A Windows Server Administrator specializing in SCCM and patching is responsible for managing and maintaining an organization's Windows server infrastructure, focusing on software deployment, security updates, and operating system management. They ensure system stability, security, and compliance by leveraging Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager (formerly SCCM) and related technologies.
Roles and responsibilities
- SCCM Infrastructure Management: Administer and maintain the Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager (MECM) environment, including site servers, clients, distribution points, and other components.
- Patch Management (Tanium Experience Preferable): Develop and implement strategies for deploying security patches and software updates for Windows servers and third-party applications. Coordinate patch testing, evaluation, and deployment schedules to minimize business disruption and align with maintenance windows. Troubleshoot patch-related issues and ensure high patch compliance across the server fleet.
- Software Deployment and Packaging: Create, test, and deploy software applications and packages to servers via SCCM/Tanium. Develop custom software packages and scripts using languages like PowerShell for automated deployments.
- Operating System Deployment (OSD): Manage and automate the deployment of Windows server operating systems using SCCM task sequences, boot images, and driver packages. Provisioning experience with Tanium a plus

- Security and Compliance: Ensure server configurations meet organizational security policies and compliance standards. Collaborate with security teams to prioritize critical vulnerabilities and implement corrective actions.
- Reporting and Documentation: Generate customs and regular reports on patch compliance, software inventory, and system health. Maintain detailed technical documentation for Processes, Configurations, and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Troubleshooting and Support: Provide expert-level support for complex issues related to SCCM, Patching, and Server performance. Work with IT support and other teams to resolve incidents and fulfill requests.
- Continuous Improvement: Research and implement new technologies or upgrades to improve the efficiency and quality of system management services. Stay up to date with SCCM/Tanium trends and new features, such as integration with Intune or Azure Update Manager and Autonomous Endpoint Management with Tanium.

- Experience: Typically requires 5-7years of experience in Windows Server management/SCCM/ Tanium Tool, with hands-on experience in large enterprise environments.

The compensation range indicated in this posting reflects the On-Target Earnings (“OTE”) for this role, which includes a base salary and any applicable target bonus amount. This OTE range may vary based on the candidate’s relevant experience, qualifications, and geographic location.
