The Role

Reporting to the Director risk monitoring at Desjardins General Insurance Group, the Senior Actuarial Advisor will be the leader in the team on quantitative projects such as risk appetite estimation, economic capital and stress testing program. These responsibilities will cover the monitoring and development of current risk measures as well as the development of new measures, while ensuring integration into the organization's day-to-day operations. The results are intended for an executive audience (management committee and board of directors). The incumbent must be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment in which knowledge and practices develop rapidly. The key elements of orientation are value creation and concrete results. The execution of activities requires close collaboration with DGIG Corporate Actuarial and Finance teams and, in Desjardins Group, with the other risk management teams, demonstrating influential leadership. More specifically, you will be required to: 

  • Coordinate the calibration and definition of the risk appetite, in particular for the insurance and market risks 

  • Design and implement a climate and internal stress testing program and analyze issues. Establish diagnoses and make recommendations to the committees 

  • Actively participate in the validation of economic capital and risk profile 

  • Develop and update policies, standards, models and programs to support your unit's strategic projects and initiatives.

What you bring to the table  

  • Bachelor's degree in actuarial science, mathematics or statistics 

  • A minimum of six years of relevant experience in P&C 

  • Please note that other combinations of qualifications and relevant experience may be considered  

  • CAS or CIA fellow or associate

  • Knowledge of French is required for positions in Quebec
