Job Summary

We are seeking a Acquisition Specialist for a full-time, on-site position with a Federal customer in Huntsville, AL. The selected candidate will provide significant support to Government-led procurement teams to acquire products and services.

Responsibilities and Duties

* Provide advice, recommendations, document support across the entire contracting lifecycle (Pre-Award; Post-Award and Contract Closeout).

* Provide consultation and leadership to junior acquisition professionals.

* Pre-Award Contract Support (80%)

  • Support program teams in developing requirements to acquire services and products to support operational objectives.
  • Provide business analysis to determine “usual and customary” procurement practices in specific industries.
  • Conduct research and provide procurement recommendations to support acquisition strategies, to include but not limited to, determine appropriate contract vehicles, procurement sources, and competition requirements.
  • Provide strategies to conduct performance base contracting.
  • Develop and manage the processes to complete justification and approvals; determinations and findings; and other required pre-award contract documents.
  • Conduct strategic and tactical market research.
  • Provide source selection consultation.

* Post-Award Contract Support (20%)

  • Draft task orders, contract modifications and other contract actions to support program operations.
  • Provide consultation to support program management reviews, performance monitoring, and other contract surveillance activities.
  • Provide consultation to contracting officer representatives (COR) in their efforts to perform spend management and track deliverables.
  • Support finance management professionals to ensure de-obligations.
  • Support contract closeout activities.

* Contract File Maintenance - Provide support necessary to assist contracting officers to maintain both hard copies and electronic copies of all contracting documentation per the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) and local regulations.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Twelve (12) years of military and/or civilian federal contracting experience.
  • Experience conducting both pre-award and post-award actions.
  • Cradle-to-grave experience with federal contracting.
  • Experience using the Federal Procurement Data System (FPDS) to record contract actions.
  • Experience using the System for Award Management (SAM) to verify a potential vendor’s business size and related information.
  • Advanced skills in the Microsoft Office Suite, particularly MS Word and Excel.

       Minimum Education/Training/Certifications Required:

  • Top Secret Clearance Required.
  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience in federal contracting.
  • Advance skills in the Microsoft Office Suite, particularly MS Word and Excel.

       Desired Qualifications:

  • Master’s Degree in Business (MBA) or Certified Federal Contracts Manager (CFCM) certification.
  • Defense Acquisition Workforce Initiative Act (DAWIA) Contracting Level II - or - Federal Acquisition Certification in Contracting (FAC-C) Level II Contracting.
  • Experience with the Unified Financial Management System (UFMS) contract writing system.
