Position Overview
The Senior Accounts Receivable Accountant is responsible for ensuring the accurate, timely, and compliant processing and reporting of global cash receipts. This role plays a critical part in maintaining the integrity of the accounts receivable subledger, supporting the monthly and quarterly close processes, and driving continuous improvement across global cash application operations. The position partners cross-functionally with Treasury, Revenue Accounting, Customer Financial Services (CFS), Sales Support, Customer Service, and external banking partners to ensure operational excellence and strong internal controls.
Responsibilities
Cash Application & Reconciliation
Process global cash receipts (lockbox, checks, wires, credit cards) accurately and in a timely manner
Reconcile the accounts receivable subledger to the general ledger and resolve discrepancies
Maintain the integrity of AR sub-ledger and supporting schedules
Reconcile daily cash reports and ensure completeness of postings
Identify and correct invoices not properly posted to the accounting system
Post non-AR receipts to the general ledger as appropriate
Month-End & Financial Close
Support regional and consolidated month-end and quarter-end close activities
Prepare account reconciliations and supporting documentation
Assist in preparation of management reports, audit schedules, and forecasts
Ensure compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) controls and documentation requirements
Case Management & Issue Resolution
Create, manage, and resolve Salesforce cases related to cash application and customer inquiries
Research and resolve payment discrepancies, short pays, unapplied cash, and credit card issues
Partner with internal teams and customers to resolve complex AR issues
Banking & Payment Operations
Support relationships with banking partners and credit card processors
Participate in process optimization efforts related to global cash application
Continuous Improvement & Projects
Contribute to global automation initiatives for cash application
Identify opportunities to streamline AR processes and improve efficiency
Develop and document procedures to enhance operational consistency and compliance
Support special projects and system enhancements as needed
Audit & Compliance Support
Provide documentation and status updates for accounts under review
Ensure strong internal controls are maintained and improved
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or related field
3+ years of experience in Accounts Receivable, Cash Application, or General Accounting
Strong Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, data analysis)
Strong reconciliation and analytical skills
Detail-oriented with high degree of accuracy
Ability to meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced, global environment
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in a global, multi-entity organization
SAP experience, preferably S4
Experience with Salesforce or case management systems
SOX compliance experience
Experience with automation tools or process improvement initiatives
Knowledge of banking interfaces and payment processing systems
