Jenkins Automotive Group is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Senior Accounting Specialist to join our accounting team. This position reports directly to the Controller and plays a critical role in maintaining the accuracy and integrity of dealership accounting operations.

Primary Responsibilities

This position is responsible for the reconciliation, monitoring, administration, and oversight of assigned operational accounting schedules, receivables, payroll support, and manufacturer accounts, including:

  • Petty Cash
  • Service, Parts & Body Shop Accounts Receivable
  • Honda/Kia Gas & HTB Receivables
  • Honda/Kia Factory Receivables
  • Honda/Kia Holdback Receivables
  • Floorplan Assistance
  • Advertising Assistance
  • Cash Sales
  • New Vehicle HTB Accounts

Daily Responsibilities

  • Monitor assigned receivable balances and resolve discrepancies.
  • Review service, parts, and body shop accounts receivable activity.
  • Reconcile factory receivable schedules.
  • Monitor holdback, floorplan assistance, and advertising assistance accounts.
  • Review payroll clearing activity and verify payroll-related balances.
  • Review cash sales postings for accuracy.
  • Maintain and reconcile petty cash.
  • Research and resolve accounting discrepancies promptly.
  • Coordinate corrections with department managers and accounting staff.
  • Maintain organized supporting documentation.
  • Escalate unresolved issues to management in a timely manner.

Weekly Responsibilities

  • Review aged receivable balances.
  • Verify manufacturer receivable activity.
  • Review holdback schedules.
  • Monitor floorplan assistance activity.
  • Review payroll-related account balances.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 3 years of accounting experience (automotive dealership accounting strongly preferred).
  • Strong understanding of general ledger reconciliations and receivables.
  • Experience with manufacturer schedules is highly desirable.
  • Excellent organizational and analytical skills.
  • Strong attention to detail with a commitment to accuracy.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities and meet deadlines.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and dealership management systems (CDK, Reynolds & Reynolds, or similar preferred).
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with multiple departments.
