Key Responsibilities:
- Strategic & Operational Leadership
- Regional Accounting Strategy & Management: Provide strategic and operational leadership for the entire Americas Accounting function. Define and execute the regional accounting roadmap, ensuring alignment with the global Finance team
- Strategic Business Partnering: Proactively provide guidance and clear awareness on the regional accounting, statutory, and regulatory implications of all business transformations, including M&A activity and evolving operating models
- Transfer Pricing Coordination: Lead the coordination and management of the group's global monthly transfer pricing calculation and quarterly/annual true-up processes. Manage the accurate and timely issuance of all related intercompany invoices
- Audit & External Relations: Act as the primary regional contact for external auditors (statutory and group), accounting/tax advisors, and global service providers. Successfully coordinate and lead all annual external audits, ensuring seamless documentation and resolution of queries
- Cross-Functional Partnership: Partner strategically with internal departments (Treasury, Tax, FP&A, Legal) to proactively resolve complex accounting issues, provide critical input for business projects, and support M&A due diligence and integration efforts
- Technical Accounting & Regulatory Compliance
- Financial Closing & Reporting Oversight: Lead and manage the comprehensive monthly and annual closing processes for all Americas entities. Ensure the accuracy, integrity, and timely completion of the general ledger, balance sheet reconciliations, and P&L statements
- Complex Accounting Resolution: Proactively monitor and resolve complex technical accounting matters, including detailed intercompany transactions and the critical customer funds reconciliation process
- Statutory & Global Reporting: Prepare and review all statutory financial statements, ensuring strict compliance with local GAAP (e.g., Brazilian BR GAAP) and alignment with Group reporting standards (IFRS)
- Central Bank & Regulatory Compliance (Brazil Focus):
- Act as the focal point with the Central Bank of Brazil (BACEN), serving as the main technical contact for all financial reports and information submitted to the regulator
- Ensure full and continuous compliance with all Central Bank regulatory obligations, including the precise preparation and submission of CADOCs (accounting reports), Minimum Capital (Patrimônio de Referência) reports, and other mandatory information
- Payment Institution Licensing: Lead the accounting and finance workstream for the BACEN payment institution licensing application, providing all necessary financial data, supporting documentation, and ensuring complete compliance with licensing requirements
- Local Regulatory Oversight: Oversee and ensure full compliance with all local regulatory, and corporate requirements across all Americas entities
- Team & Process Elevation
- Team Leadership & Development: Supervise, mentor, and strategically develop the Americas Accounting team. Foster a culture of accountability, continuous learning, and high performance
- Process Improvement & Automation: Champion and drive continuous process improvement and automation initiatives to enhance the efficiency, scalability, and accuracy of regional accounting operations and reporting cycles
- Internal Controls & Policy Adherence: Ensure the strict design, operation, and adherence to robust internal controls, company policies, and regional control frameworks to mitigate risk and safeguard company assets
Your Profile
- Experience: You have extensive experience (typically 7+ years) in a senior accounting leadership role within a dynamic multinational company. You are a proven leader with a track record of managing accounting and finance functions
- Expertise: You possess deep, up-to-date knowledge of technical accounting standards, statutory reporting and. You are an expert in navigating complex global regulatory environments. Experience in payments & fintech is desired
- Leadership & Influence: You have a proven ability to lead and motivate teams, and your exceptional communication skills allow you to effectively influence and partner with colleagues across all departments. You have a pragmatic, results-oriented approach to problem-solving
- Education: A degree in Finance, Accounting, or Law is essential. A professional accounting qualification (e.g. CPA, ACA, ACCA or equivalent) is highly desirable
- Fluency in Portuguese and English is essential
- Mindset: You are a strategic thinker with a high level of integrity and a keen sense of business acumen. You are comfortable with a hands-on approach and thrive in a fast-paced environment where you can make a significant impact
