About the Role:
The Senior Accountant plays a critical role in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of the organization's financial records. This position is responsible for managing complex accounting tasks, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards, and supporting the month-end close process. The Senior Accountant will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to provide insightful financial data that supports strategic decision-making. This role requires a detail-oriented professional who can identify discrepancies, implement improvements in accounting processes, and maintain up-to-date knowledge of accounting principles and regulations. Ultimately, the Senior Accountant contributes to the financial health and transparency of the organization by delivering timely and accurate financial information.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3+ years of progressive accounting experience
- Strong knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
- Familiarity with NetSuite or a similar ERP system
Preferred Qualifications:
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation.
- Experience with financial reporting.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables and complex formulas.
- Experience working in a multi-entity accounting environment.
Responsibilities:
- Manage general ledger activities, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and variance analysis.
- Coordinate and support external audit processes by providing necessary documentation and explanations.
- Collaborate with finance and operational teams to streamline accounting processes and improve financial reporting efficiency.
- Assist in budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning activities by providing detailed financial insights.
- Identify and resolve accounting discrepancies and irregularities in a timely manner.
- Mentor and provide guidance to junior accounting staff to foster professional development and maintain high-quality work standards.
Skills:
The Senior Accountant utilizes strong analytical skills daily to interpret financial data and identify trends or discrepancies that impact the organization’s financial health. Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel enables efficient management of large datasets and accurate financial reporting. Communication skills are essential for collaborating with internal teams and external auditors, ensuring clarity and compliance in financial documentation.
