Job Description

This position will report to the Controller. The Senior Accountant will apply principles of accounting to analyze financial information and prepare financial reports by performing the duties shown below.

Functions include but are not limited to the following. Must be able to move freely between tasks depending on workload, season, etc.

  • Review construction in progress and coordinate with project managers
  • Process fixed assets additions, retirements, transfers, and adjustments, and property transactions
  • Maintain fixed assets subsystem for GAAP, federal, and state books for multiple entities
  • Reconcile and maintain detailed monthly reconciliations of balance sheet accounts and roll forward schedules
  • Prepare state property tax payments and state property tax reports such as 571 statements and agricultural questionnaires
  • Prepare fixed assets schedules for annual federal and state tax packages and quarterly tax projections
  • Prepare depreciation and property tax budgets
  • Assist with the external annual audit and provide supporting documentation as requested
  • Prepare journal entries including accruals, reclasses, allocations and intercompany transactions
  • Support general ledger functions including account analysis, variance review and string maintenance
  • Assist with month-end and year-end close procedures
  • Assist with ad hoc projects, such as process improvement projects, and perform other duties as assigned

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business Administration, or related field
  • 2 to 3 years accounting experience; or equivalent combination education and experience.

SPECIFIC KNOWELDGE, SKILLS, LICENSES, AND/OR CERTIFICATIONS:

  • Public accounting experience preferred
  • Understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principle (GAAP)
  • Oracle knowledge preferred
  • Ability to work with detailed information, producing high quality output, which is precise, free of errors, and delivered in a timely manner
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Products. Strong Excel skills required
  • Demonstrates initiative to learn about business and work to improve results
  • Strong organizational and critical thinking skills
  • Ability to multi-task and manage competing deadlines
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work in a team environment as well as independentlyAbility to proactively identify, resolve and communicate issues

Pay Range: $100,000 - $105,000 and may include a discretionary bonus. Final compensation will be dependent upon skills & experience.
