The Senior Accountant is a full-time staff position responsible for maintaining controls over a variety of subledgers and procedures in coordination with management level staff and other stakeholders from throughout the other departments and teams within ministry. This position reports to the Finance Director.

This position will allow one to impact others through a service mindset centered on making an eternal difference. Responsibilities

  • Promote the mission and standards of Answers in Genesis.
  • Create a SERVE culture environment in all work done. 
  • Approach all tasks with a second mile mindset.
  • Prioritize personal integrity in all interactions and assignments. 
  • Oversee and promote the spiritual, personal, and professional development of all team members being led. 
  • Work with Assistant Director of Attractions Events on project code information for tracking and recording the financial results of speaking engagements and other events
  • Process scheduled bi-monthly ACH contribution batches
  • Record bi-weekly payroll entries, to include: tracking leave time; 401k contributions; and payroll deductions
  • Process reports for various external entities (State Sales Tax, Williamstown Safety Assessment, etc.)
  • Maintain Fixed Asset and Capital-in-Progress records
  • Reconcile Accounts and other tasks as defined by month end closing procedures.
  • Support Finance department leadership on special projects as needed.
  • And all other duties and responsibilities assigned by management.
Qualifications

Requirements

  • Must agree with and be able to sign our Statement of Faith.
  • Maintains a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
  • Regularly attends a local Bible-believing church.
  • Excellent computer skills
  • Experience with financial/account software
  • Experience with Excel
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • Capable of working independently with little supervision
  • Must be able to work 40 hours/week
  • Must display proven leadership qualities.

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field.
  • 2+ years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in a non-profit organization.
  • Ability to effectively present financial information and respond to questions from all levels of the organization.
