Who we’re looking for

We’re looking for a Senior Accountant who is an autonomous powerhouse. Ethena is an AI platform for Compliance, and we’re looking for someone to bring that same "faster and smarter" energy to our Finance team.

This isn't a role for someone who wants to come in and build a 50-page policy manual or implement "big company" bells and whistles. We need someone scrappy who has a solid foundation in accounting, loves the puzzle of SaaS revenue, and is excited to own our end-to-end close. You’ll report to our VP of Finance and Operations as our in-house technical accounting exoert—leveling up our overall finance motion through mentorship (and potential direct management) while ensuring our audit and external firm partnerships run like a well-oiled machine.

What you’ll do
  • Own the Close: Lead the monthly, quarterly, and year-end close. You’ll produce consolidated financial statements in accordance with US GAAP and ensure our books (currently in QuickBooks Online) are audit-ready at all times.

  • Master SaaS Complexity: Manage the order-to-cash process. This means getting into the weeds of customer contracts, invoicing, and the nuances of revenue recognition.

  • Manage Operational Cycles: Take full ownership of our day-to-day financial operations, including the end-to-end Procure-to-Pay (P2P) process and vendor management.

  • Automate Everything: We’re an AI company—we expect our internal processes to reflect that. You’ll find creative ways to use AI and automation tools to make our financial operations faster and more accurate.

  • Build "Right-Sized" Structure: You’ll help evaluate and deploy the systems we need to scale (i.e., QuickBooks Online today and potentially leading a future ERP implementation), but you’ll do it with a startup mindset—focusing on what moves the needle for Ethena right now, not what a Fortune 500 company would do.

  • Collaborate & Mentor: While you’re a high-autonomy individual contributor, you’ll also coach one accounting team member and partner cross-functionally (especially with Sales) to keep our revenue data clean.

What makes a great candidate
  • Startup Seasoned: You have a few years of experience in a high-growth tech environment (SaaS experience is a major plus). You know how a startup accounting function should be set up, and you don’t need a playbook handed to you—you’re here to write it.

  • Technically Grounded: You have a solid grasp of US GAAP and have been through the audit process. You don’t need hands-on technical training; you’re the one people come to with questions.

  • The "Scrappy" Mindset: You are more interested in getting things done than in over-engineering processes. You know when precision is non-negotiable and when "good enough for now" allows the business to move faster.

  • AI-Forward: You’re already thinking about how to use tools to eliminate manual data entry and "boring" accounting tasks so you can focus on more strategic work.

  • High Trust & Integrity: You’ll have access to confidential info and wire controls. We need someone with an impeccable ethical compass and the "Ethena sense of humor" to match.

What's going to be the hardest part
  • Building while flying: You aren't just running a close; you’re creating the systems and controls while the company is scaling. There is no steady-state here.

  • SaaS Revenue is Messy: Getting revenue recognition and sales integrations right requires both technical depth and the patience to work through cross-functional data "noise."

  • Speed vs. Accuracy: You’ll constantly be balancing the need for financial integrity with the high-velocity nature of a startup.

Ethena is a remote-first organization and is currently hiring candidates based in the United States.
