Los Angeles, CA | On-site | Accounting/ Finance
Pay Range: $75,000-$100,000 Per Year. The exact starting compensation to be offered will be determined at the time of selecting an applicant for hire and will be dependent on a wide range of factors, including but not limited to geographic location, skill set, experience, education, credentials, and licensure when applicable.
What’s the role?
We're looking for an experienced Senior Accountant to help with day-to-day statutory accounting responsibilities including investment management, reinsurance management, premium accounting, and financial reporting. As a Senior Accountant you will closely work with the CFO and other departments to accomplish daily operations of the finance/accounting department. You’ll be part of an innovative insurance company with a friendly, fast-paced culture. This position requires you to be able to work well under pressure, be accountable for your actions and deliver on your commitments.
This is a full-time role in which you’ll report to the CFO. You must be willing to work onsite at the Los Angeles Corporate office.
What you’ll do as a Senior Accountant?
- Assist CFO in the day-to-day management of the accounting department including investment management, reconciliation and analysis of accounts, journal entries and accounting classifications, as required by US GAAP and Statutory Accounting Principles (SAP).
- Prepare monthly and quarterly statutory financial reporting.
- Assist in documenting internal processes/controls and developing improvements as reinsurance processes and procedures for accurate and timely analysis of financial data including written premiums, losses, and investments and reinsurance, ensuring best practices.
Qualifications
What we look for in our Senior Accountant?
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting/Finance or equivalent Experience in Statutory Accounting
- 3 + years of Big 4 public auditing/accounting or equivalent experience
- Prior experience in insurance preferred
- Understanding of applicable accounting rules and regulations
- Strong knowledge of financial reporting and experience with full cycle accounting
- Excellent attention to detail and exceptional organizational skills for effectively managing multiple tasks simultaneously
- Expert level of proficiency with Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and other financial reporting tools
- Positive demeanor, commitment, accountability, and team player
- Excellent communications skills, both written and verbal
- Detail oriented and strong organizational skills for handling multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Good interpersonal skills to collaborate and work well with other team members; also, the ability to effectively interact with managing general agents and reinsurance partners is a must.
