Job Description:
We are hiring a Senior Accountant to help scale our accounting function and lead the accounting side of our transition from QuickBooks to a modern system (Netsuite or Sage Accounting).

This role reports to the CFO and serves as a senior technical accounting leader with significant ownership over systems, close processes, and accounting policy.

A large majority of our customers are in the defense and government sector. This role is well suited for someone comfortable operating in audit-intensive, highly scrutinized environments where documentation, discipline, and accuracy matter.

What you'll do

Accounting Operations

  • Help lead the monthly close and financial reporting process with a focus on accuracy, consistency, and audit readiness
  • Prepare and review journal entries, reconciliations, and supporting schedules
  • Support multi-entity and international accounting and consolidations
  • Act as a reliable backup to the Controller during close cycles and peak periods

NetSuite Implementation & Ownership

  • Co-lead the NetSuite implementation from an accounting perspective
  • Design and maintain the chart of accounts, dimensions, and reporting structure
  • Own revenue recognition configuration under ASC 606, including deferred revenue and contract accounting
  • Partner closely with external implementation consultants and internal stakeholders
  • Serve as long-term accounting owner of NetSuite/Sage post-go-live, with an emphasis on traceability and control

Technical accounting, controls, and compliance

  • Serve as a senior technical accounting resource for complex or non-routine transactions
  • Draft and maintain accounting policies and internal documentation
  • Design and support internal controls appropriate for a lean but regulated, government-facing business
  • Support audits, customer reviews, and future diligence processes
  • Ensure accounting decisions are well documented and defensible under external scrutiny

Contract and Revenue focus

  • Work closely with Finance, Legal, and Operations to interpret contract terms and modifications
  • Ensure revenue recognition aligns with contractual performance obligations and acceptance terms
  • Maintain clear support for revenue, billing, and deferred revenue balances

What we are looking for

  • • 7–12 years of progressive accounting experience
  • • Experience owning or heavily leading month-end close in a $20–100M revenue company
  • • Direct, hands-on experience with at least one NetSuite or SAGE implementation
  • • Strong working knowledge of ASC 606 revenue recognition
  • • Experience operating in audit-heavy, regulated, or compliance-driven environments
  • • High attention to documentation, controls, and process discipline
  • • Comfortable working hands-on in a lean, fast-growing team
  • • CPA

Preffered

  • Experience working with government customers, defense contractors, or similar regulated industries
  • Exposure to long-term or complex contract structures
  • Multi-entity and international accounting experience
  • Prior experience as a Senior Accountant in a scaling company
