Senior Accountant

Our Finance team is looking for a dynamic individual to help execute our accounting policies and processes so that we can meet our financial growth goals. This role will report to the Accounting Director, and will also work closely with our SVP of Finance, Finance Manager and team leads to ensure that our books are kept up to date and accurate for quick decision making and reporting. This role will lead our revenue recognition for our growing SaaS product, own our accounts receivable and collections process, and be a key contributor to our monthly close process. This role must be extremely detail oriented, efficient and have a deep understanding of GAAP. This role will be ever changing and will require the candidate to be adaptable and open-minded.

Revenue Recognition & Sales Support

• Prepare revenue recognition analysis under ASC 606 for SaaS subscriptions, multi-year contracts, and additional revenue streams as we grow
• Manage revenue schedules and perform monthly revenue close procedures
• Support Sales team with contract questions and billing structure guidance

Accounts Receivable and Collections

• Manage end-to-end invoicing process across diverse customer requirements (email, portals, various formats and currencies)
• Partner with Sales team to resolve billing issues, payment questions, and customer inquiries in order to drive efficient collections
• Maintain customer billing documentation and coordinate onboarding requirements

Additional Responsibilities

• Manage end-to-end sales tax compliance process, including coordination with Avalara for monthly filings, review of sales tax returns, nexus monitoring, and resolution of transaction-level sales tax questions
• Own specific period close tasks relevant to revenue and AR, as well as provide support for additional month-end close tasks
• Support annual financial audit with PBC preparation and auditor requests
• Support continued improvement of close process, revenue recognition process, and collections process, including additional process documentation

• 4-8 years of accounting experience, preferably including in SaaS, technology, and/or high-growth growth environments
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
• Public accounting experience and CPA or CPA candidate preferred
• Willingness and ability to learn general ledger responsibilities as needs arise
• Strong technical skills and knowledge of GAAP. Experience with SaaS accounting and reporting (ARR), ASC 606: Revenue Recognition, and ASC 340-40: Capitalized Contract Costs
• Intermediate to advanced knowledge of Excel; experience with NetSuite a plus
• Familiarity with sales tax compliance a plus
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally and at different levels within and outside the organization
• Ability to prioritize, work independently and maintain flexibility in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy, organizational and time management skills
• Ability to maintain discretion when dealing with highly sensitive and confidential matters

The estimated annual salary for this role is between $120,000 - $160,000, plus a competitive equity package. Actual compensation is determined based upon a variety of job related factors that may include: transferable work experience, skill sets, and qualifications. Total compensation also includes a comprehensive benefit package, including: medical, dental, vision, 401(k) plan, unlimited paid time off, generous parental leave plan, and others for mental and wellness support.

While we are a remote-first company, we have opened offices in New York City and the San Francisco Bay Area, as an option for those in those cities who wish to work in-person. For all other employees, there is a WFH monthly stipend to pay for co-working spaces.
