JOB SUMMARY:
Under minimal supervision the Senior Accountant is responsible for performing reconciliation of assigned general ledger accounts, analyzing expense postings comparing actual to budget monthly, recording accruals or deferrals of costs as necessary, and assisting in month end close process.
The candidate must possess a solid knowledge of accounting and GAAP reporting, pays close attention to detail. The candidate must display integrity and have a desire for professional growth.
MAJOR DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
Analyze financial data and generate monthly trend reports, analyze monthly results, and perform variance analysis.
Financial forecasting and analysis of fixed expenses in coordination with senior level management.
Perform balance sheet reconciliations ensuring financial statement accuracy.
Analyze balances for accuracy and completeness and proposing accrual or deferral entries as appropriate. Calculate accounting estimates and record in general ledger.
Coordinate month-end and year-end closing activities to ensure timely reporting as well as assist with yearly public audits.
Research and resolve discrepancies, research items identified during preliminary review, and maintain accounting files.
Perform a thorough review of balance sheet and income statement accounts - tasks to be performed include recommending/executing correcting entries, raising potential issues for discussion, identifying problem accounts,
Assist manager with special projects.
Other duties as assigned.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
B.A. or B.S., preferably in Accounting
5+ years accounting experience
Knowledge of finance, accounting, budgeting, and cost control principles.
Must have the ability to manage multiple projects, prioritize work, meet deadlines, and concentrate on detailed information
Individual must be detail oriented, possess strong analytical skills, strong work ethic and exhibits a “sense of urgency” to daily tasks and projects
Good oral and written communication skills
Proficiency in Excel and Word
Experience in a technology-based, multi-project work environment
Ability to work well with other employees within the company and at the branch level, building relationships that focus on teamwork
Ability to work independently
PREFERRED/DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Masters in Accounting or Business Administration
5 + years financial services accounting experience with increasing levels of responsibility
C.P.A or C.M.A
Knowledge of project management, operations, and regulatory systems
COMPENSATION:
The salary range for this position is competitive based on the job duties as well as the specific Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Experience of the selected candidate.
This position is eligible for Semi Annual Incentive compensation based on individual and company performance guidelines.
