The Role:
The Senior Accountant will support the accounting team by managing core accounting activities, ensuring compliance with accounting standards, and contributing to the accurate and timely preparation of financial reports. This role reports to the Controller and collaborates closely with various departments.
What You’ll Do:
Key responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
- Prepare and analyze financial statements, ensuring accuracy and adherence to relevant accounting standards (e.g., GAAP or IFRS).
- Manage the general ledger, including account reconciliations, journal entries, and month-end and year-end closings.
- Monitor and reconcile accounts payable and receivable processes.
- Assist in preparing and reviewing budgets, forecasts, and variance analyses.
- Support internal and external audits, ensuring all necessary documentation is accurate and available.
- Manage cash flow forecasts and treasury operations, including banking relationships.
- Ensure compliance with all tax filings and regulatory reporting requirements.
- Develop and improve accounting processes and systems for efficiency and accuracy.
- Mentor and provide guidance to junior accounting team members as needed.
What You’ll Bring:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA designation required.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in accounting, preferably in a professional services environment.
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting, and internal controls.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP/IFRS, financial reporting, and compliance requirements.
- Proficiency in ERP systems and financial software; advanced Excel skills required.
- Demonstrated ability to implement and improve processes.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills (English is essential, French is an asset).
- Team-oriented mindset with a commitment to collaboration.
- Ability to communicate effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
- Eligible to obtain and maintain security clearance.
