Job Scope

The Sr. Accountant has a crucial role in our organization, focusing on general accounting functions to support our business partners, process improvement, Sarbanes-Oxley compliance, SAP implementation. This position is critical for producing accurate and timely financial information while promoting strong internal controls. This position involves overseeing complex financial transactions, ensuring compliance with accounting standards, and providing financial analysis and insights to support strategic decision-making. The Senior Accountant will also be responsible for mentoring junior members of the finance team and contributing to process improvement initiatives.

Core responsibilities also include providing monthly accounting processes, analysis, supporting company-wide process improvement initiatives, and mentoring others on how to interpret and utilize financial information.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and manage the timely and accurate monthly/quarterly close processes including result reporting, supporting disclosures, and journal entries.
  • Ensure the integrity of the balance sheet through comprehensive and accurate reconciliations.
  • Prepare account reconciliations in compliance with GAAP, company policy and SOX requirements.
  • Continuously research, develop, document and propose process improvements to enhance financial processes and internal controls to optimize efficiency and accuracy.
  • Collaborate with the business on projects and financial results for specific reporting.
  • Lead and participate in continuous improvement projects and other efficiency and productivity initiatives.
  • Prepare and analyze financial information, ensuring accuracy and compliance with GAAP, in a meaningful and actionable manner.
  • Collaborate with department heads to develop annual budgets and forecasts. Monitor actual performance against budgets and provide variance analysis.
  • Coordinate and assist with external audits, including the preparation of audit schedules and documentation. Address audit findings and implement corrective actions as needed.
  • Provide guidance and support to junior members of the finance team, fostering their professional growth and development.
  • Participate in special projects assigned by the senior finance leadership team.

Qualifications

  • BA/BS degree in accounting required
  • CPA or CPA candidate strongly preferred
  • 3-10 years of relevant accounting experience required
  • 2+ years Senior Accounting experience preferred
  • SAP experience highly preferred
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
  • Demonstrated knowledge and expertise of US GAAP and SOX Section 404
  • Self-driven and goal oriented, able to work independently, conduct research, analyze, and exercise judgment when resolving issues
  • Direct Experience with process improvements/reengineering strongly preferred
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English, with the ability to collaborate with personnel at all levels
  • Manufacturing experience a plus
  • Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities
  • Attention to detail with an eye for accuracy with strong organizational skills
