Job Description:
This is a challenging and rewarding role focused on supporting a number of key Finance initiatives to better enable our manufacturing business during an exciting time of organizational transformation.
We are looking for a Senior Accountant to join our Finance team and help us as we continue to evolve our Finance and Accounting processes. The ideal candidate is self-motivated, detail-oriented, and a proactive team player with superb interpersonal and collaborative skills. The Senior Accountant should exercise independent judgment to critically evaluate processes and provide guidance and mentorship to other accounting staff as needed.
Essential Duties:

Preparation and review of journal entries within PeopleSoft ERP as part of month-end close, which is completed in 4-days.

Conduct complex accounting analyses, month-end GL reconciliations, and rollforward processes which also require research, analysis and independent judgment.

Generate and interpret financial records and statements for management; escalate matters to accounting manager, senior director and/or VP/Controller.

Be acclimated with using disparate applications in order to execute analysis.

Provide support to the Corporate Accounting team related to day-to-day financial matters and other related questions.

Evaluate processes for improvements, and create process documentation.

Play an integral role in new process implementation resulting from business changes and accounting rule updates.

Proactively address inquiries from other departments, be responsive, and close matters down timely; routinely collaborate with Plant and Corporate Stakeholders; propose and execute solutions in response to their needs.

Serve as a key resource in connection with monthly and quarterly reviews, as well as the year end audit; fulfill requests of Standard Industries tax team in connection with periodic tax filings.

Load approved annual budget at beginning of each fiscal year, and establish monthly recurring entries based on budgetary data.

Assist in maintenance, routine provisioning, validation and testing of financial applications.
Under This Roof, We Require

At least five years of experience within an Accounting or Finance environment, public accounting experience is preferred specific to financial statement and internal control audits

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting

Intermediate knowledge of accounting concepts, practices, and procedures

Very strong Microsoft Excel Skills

Physical attendance on-site is required 3-days/week minimally (Tues-Thurs), with the ability to come in extra days as business needs dictate

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills in a team environment

Analytical and statistical skills

Acclimation with using disparate applications

Routine maintenance of ERP application (i.e., routine patch testing, journal allocation rules, directing combo-edits, report updates, etc)
