To Be Successful:  A successful Senor Accountant combines excellent analytical skills with a thorough knowledge of accounting principles to analyze financial reports and accounting transactions. This position will collaborate with and be supported by a team of accountants.

The Role: The Senior Accountant role will directly report to the Director, Accounting Operations. This position is expected to have a strong sense of ownership, ability to identify process improvement opportunities, and have an excellent knowledge of GAAP. The accountant’s responsibilities include reconciling account balances, maintaining the general ledger, performing month-end closing procedures, assisting in quarterly reviews, and the annual audit.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities:

  • Verify, allocate, post, and reconcile general ledger activities
  • Perform standard accounting duties such as recording transactions to the general ledger, reconcile accounts, and produce financial reports
  • Perform analytical review on assigned income statement accounts
  • Provide accounting support to assigned pharmacy locations
  • Analyze accounting results and proactively seek to resolve discrepancies or variances.
  • Provide ideas to improve efficiency and accuracy
  • Review and recommend modifications to accounting systems and procedures to improve efficiency
  • Effectively manage multiple projects and objectives simultaneously in a deadline driven environment
  • Assist with external audits and quarterly reviews
  • Support month-end and quarter-end close processes
  • Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree from accredited institution in accounting is required
  • MAcc or MBA (preferred, not required)
  • CPA or CPA track preferred

Skills and Qualifications:

  • 3 - 7 years of accounting experience showing increasing responsibilities
  • 2+ years of experience performing variance analysis
  • Large company industry experience is preferred
  • Flexible and able to quickly adapt to new systems and the changing needs of a growing business
  • Ability to work independently and deliver to deadlines
