@LifeAtALKU as the Senior Staff Accountant:

We are seeking a skilled and motivated Senior Staff Accountant to join our Finance team. This position is ideal for a detail-oriented professional with a strong background in accounting and financial processes. The Senior Staff Accountant will be responsible for overseeing various accounting functions, ensuring the accuracy of the general ledger, maintaining compliance with tax filings, and contributing to the overall financial health of the organization. The Senior Staff Accountant will also have a heavy involvement in preparing for and executing year-end audits.

Duties/Responsibilities:

• Preparing and reviewing journal entries, accruals, and adjustments
• Maintaining and reconciling balance sheet accounts
• Collaborating with other departments to research and resolve account discrepancies in a timely manner
• Performing analyses and offering recommendations to improve operational efficiency
• Managing month-end and year-end close processes, including assisting in the preparation of financial statements in accordance with GAAP
• Supporting monthly financial consolidation of balance sheets, cash flow statements, and other reports
• Ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local tax filings for multiple entities
• Collaborating with auditors and assisting in the preparation of audit schedules and responses to audit inquiries

Required Skills/Abilities:

• Strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting requirements
• Effective verbal and written communication skills
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
• Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Proficiency in accounting software and advanced Microsoft Excel skills
• Experience with ASC 842 or ASC 606

On Site Requirements:

Three days per week in office (per ALKU WFH Policy)

Physical Requirements:

Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer

Education and Experience:

1-3 years of accounting experience

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field

CPA preferred, but not required

1-2 years of Public Accounting experience

Prior experience with state and local tax filings
