The NAM Rebates & Incentives Senior Accountant is a key member of Mastercard's Global Business Solutions Center (GBSC), responsible for delivering timely, accurate, and compliant accounting and financial support for Mastercard's North America business. This role supports the accounting and administration of rebate and incentive programs, including contract review, month-end close activities, financial analysis, payment validation, and financial reporting. The position partners closely with business stakeholders to provide financial insights, resolve complex issues, and drive continuous process improvement while ensuring compliance with accounting standards, company policies, and internal controls.
Role:
• Review executed contracts and establish customers, deals, and incentives within the Mastercard Contra Revenue System (CRS).• Perform timely and accurate month-end close activities for the CRS subledger and Oracle general ledger, including preparation and review of journal entries.• Analyze close results, trends, and actual versus budget/forecast performance to identify required accounting adjustments and prepare related journal entries.• Review and validate rebate and incentive payment requests through detailed contract analysis and verification of supporting data from multiple internal systems.• Ensure accurate accounting for rebate and incentive accruals, payments, and financial reporting in accordance with company policies and accounting requirements.• Prepare and review balance sheet reconciliations and general ledger account analyses.• Investigate, resolve, and escalate complex accounting issues while providing recommendations for corrective actions.• Support quarterly financial deliverables, variance analysis, and management reporting requirements.• Partner with financial systems teams to support CRS data, reporting, system enhancements, and functionality improvements.• Drive process improvement initiatives that increase efficiency, strengthen controls, enhance reporting quality, and optimize operational effectiveness.• Support SOX compliance requirements and maintain strong internal controls across all assigned processes.• Build strong relationships with business partners and provide exceptional customer service and accounting support.• Participate in special projects and perform additional responsibilities as assigned.

Education & Certifications:
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.• MBA in Finance, CPA, Chartered Accountant (CA), or equivalent professional certification preferred.
Knowledge, Experience & Skills• Minimum of 5 years of progressive accounting experience, preferably within a large, global organization.• Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP and current accounting principles.• Experience with revenue recognition, contra revenue accounting, rebates and incentives, and/or contract management is preferred.• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and consistently deliver accurate results in a fast-paced environment.• Strong analytical, problem-solving, planning, and organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail.• Advanced understanding of financial systems and ERP platforms, with Oracle experience preferred.• Ability to perform detailed financial analysis, identify trends, and provide actionable business insights.• Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across functions, levels, and geographic locations.• Customer-service mindset with a proven ability to build and maintain productive business relationships.• Commitment to process excellence, continuous improvement, and maintaining a strong control environment.• Ability to work independently while contributing effectively within a team-oriented global organization.

In line with Mastercard's total compensation philosophy and assuming that the job will be performed in the US, the successful candidate will be offered a competitive base salary and may be eligible for an annual bonus or commissions depending on the role. The base salary offered may vary depending on multiple factors, including but not limited to location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
