Purpose of the Role

This is an opportunity to join Side’s Finance team in Malaysia and play a hands-on role within an international business operating across multiple countries and regions.

The role combines ownership of Malaysia finance operations with exposure to broader regional finance and reporting activities across the group. You will be responsible for full-set accounting and month-end/year-end closing, while also supporting reconciliations, compliance, management reporting and cross-border finance activities.

It is a varied role suited to an accountant who enjoys being close to the detail while also understanding the wider financial picture. You will work independently, collaborate with regional counterparts and contribute to the accurate financial reporting and analysis that supports the wider business.

We are looking for a hands-on accountant with strong reconciliation, reporting and analytical capabilities, who can confidently manage their responsibilities, work with colleagues across different markets and support management reporting requirements within a growing global organisation.

Duties and Key Responsibilities
  • Manage the full set of accounts for assigned entities, from day-to-day transaction processing through to trial balance and financial statements.
  • Perform month-end and year-end closing, including journal entries, accruals, and balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Handle intercompany reconciliations and support balance matching with overseas group entities.
  • Ensure accounting records and reporting are prepared in accordance with IFRS / group accounting policies, including reconciling differences against local statutory standards where applicable.
  • Prepare monthly management reports, sales channel reporting, and budget vs. actual variance analysis.
  • Support SST/GST/E-Invoicing compliance and coordinate with auditors and tax agents on statutory matters.
  • Support audit preparation, statutory reporting, and year-end closing across assigned entities.
  • Support regional finance projects and cross-border accounting coordination as required, including with Mandarin-speaking counterparts and vendors.
  • Assist with D365 reconciliation, system improvements, and process automation initiatives.
Knowledge, Experience & Skills
  • Degree in Accounting, Finance, or equivalent professional qualification.
  • Minimum 4-6 years of relevant accounting experience, ideally handling full set of accounts within a larger international business.
  • Strong working knowledge of IFRS is required, as the role involves accounting oversight for entities operating under local GAAP standards that differ from IFRS.
  • Strong understanding of double-entry accounting, reconciliations, and month-end/year-end closing.
  • Experience with management reporting, budget monitoring, and variance analysis.
  • Working knowledge of SST/GST/E-Invoicing compliance is an advantage.
  • Exposure to a regional or multi-country environment preferred.
  • Proficient in both spoken and written Mandarin and English, to liaise effectively with regional stakeholders and review Mandarin-language documentation.
  • Experience with D365 ERP system is an advantage.
Personal Attributes
  • Proactive, detail-oriented, and able to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • High integrity, accuracy, and strong ownership of deliverables.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines.
  • Strong communicator, able to work confidently with international/regional teams across time zones.
  • Flexible on working hours where cross-region coordination requires it.
