Position Summary

The Senior Accountant will play an important role on Unrivaled Sports’ shared services accounting team, supporting the accuracy, timeliness, and quality of financial reporting across multiple businesses within our growing portfolio.

Reporting to the Senior Manager of Accounting, this position will own key components of the day-to-day accounting cycle, including journal entries, month-end close, balance sheet reconciliations, cash activity, and financial reporting. The Senior Accountant will also partner with operations and FP&A, support our annual financial audit and tax preparation processes, and contribute to process improvements and acquisition integrations as Unrivaled continues to grow.

This is a full-time, primarily remote position with the option to work from our Baltimore, Maryland office for candidates in the area.

The Opportunity

This is an opportunity for an accountant who wants to do more than manage a narrow piece of the general ledger.

As part of a growing, multi-entity organization, you’ll gain exposure across a diverse portfolio of sports, venue, and hospitality businesses and work closely with both finance and operational leaders. You’ll have the opportunity to take meaningful ownership of assigned entities, improve how work gets done, and help strengthen an accounting function that is evolving alongside a rapidly growing business.

What You’ll Do
  • Take ownership of the completeness, accuracy, and quality of accounting and financial reporting for assigned entities across the Unrivaled Sports portfolio.
  • Prepare monthly journal entries and support revenue recognition in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
  • Prepare monthly balance sheet reconciliations and roll-forwards, including complete and accurate supporting workpapers.
  • Record and investigate daily cash receipts and resolve reconciling items.
  • Support and execute the month-end close of the general ledger, including preparation of adjusting entries under accrual accounting.
  • Prepare month-end financial reporting packages, including income statement variance analysis against budget and forecast and balance sheet review.
  • Present and communicate financial results and relevant findings to key stakeholders.
  • Partner with operations teams to ensure flash reports and other recurring reporting are reconciled, accurate, and delivered on time.
  • Prepare routine PBC deliverables and supporting documentation for the annual financial audit and tax return preparation.
  • Identify opportunities to streamline accounting processes, strengthen internal controls, and improve efficiency across a multi-entity environment.
  • Partner across the Finance organization, including with FP&A, and provide ad hoc analysis and support to management as needed.
  • Contribute to special projects and other finance initiatives, including accounting support for acquisition integrations.
What You’ll BringRequired Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting.
  • 3–5 years of relevant accounting experience.
  • Strong understanding of GAAP and the ability to apply accounting principles effectively in day-to-day operations.
  • Advanced analytical capabilities in Microsoft Excel.
  • Strong quantitative, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple entities, priorities, and deadlines.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to adapt your communication to different audiences.
  • A self-starting mindset with the ability to take ownership, work with limited supervision, and consistently meet deadlines.
  • Comfort working in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
Preferred Qualifications

We’d be especially interested in candidates who also bring one or more of the following:

  • CPA designation or active pursuit of CPA licensure.
  • Public accounting experience.
  • Experience working in a multi-entity, private-equity-backed, high-growth, or acquisitive organization.
  • Working knowledge of Sage Intacct, Bill.com, and Concur.
  • An interest in leveraging AI and emerging tools to improve accounting workflows and efficiency.
  • A passion for youth sports.
