Responsibilities:
- Perform general accounting tasks as part of the month-end close process, including preparing journal entries, reconciliations, and analysing financial statements.
- Prepare corporate income tax filings (including size-based tax), consumption tax, and business premises tax in collaboration with Tax firms.
- Investigate account balance variances and assist the finance team in explaining differences between actual results and forecasts.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Business, FP&A, Tax, and Internal Audit.
- Lead process improvements and contribute to projects that enhance scalability, efficiency, system design, and management reporting.
- Review contracts and transactions to ensure proper accounting treatment.
- Drive general process improvements and create documentation for all aspects of the accounting cycle.
- Implement processes and document controls to ensure SOX compliant internal control environment.
- Support year-end external audit activities and ongoing internal audits as necessary.
- Manage special projects and other ad hoc assignments as required.
- Collaborate with the BI team to develop insightful and effective reports.
Requirements:
- Minimum 5–7 years of experience in financial accounting.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Tax, or a related field is preferred.
- Accounting qualifications are ideal (USCPA, JCPA, Bookkeeping Level 1 required; Bookkeeping Level 2 is a must).
- Strong knowledge of J-GAAP, US GAAP/IFRS, and internal controls (SOX).
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in both English and Japanese (JLPT N1 or higher).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a collaborative approach to resolving issues as part of a team.
