About your role:

We are seeking a Senior Accountant to support our lessor lease accounting function in Omaha, NE.  This role owns the accurate recognition, measurement, and reporting of lease contracts under ASC 842, primarily within SAP from the Odessa lease management platform.  The ideal candidate combines deep technical lease accounting knowledge with strong reconciliation discipline and a collaborative, straightforward approach.

What you'll do:

  • Perform monthly close activities for the lessor lease portfolio, including journal entries, accruals, and account reconciliations.

  • Apply ASC 842 lease classification (sales-type, direct financing, operating) and ensure correct initial and subsequent measurement.

  • Maintain and reconcile lease subledger to the general ledger, including net investment in lease/receivable, residual, deferred interest, and deferred revenue accounts.

  • Support CECL reserve analysis, assessing collectability and aging of lease receivables.

  • Administer and validate lease accounting within Odessa, including commencement, modifications, and terminations.

  • Prepare balance sheet analysis.

  • Analyze monthly trends and month-over-month variances to validate entries and identify accounting issues that require follow-up.

  • Support internal and external audit requests with well-documented workpapers.

  • Identify and drive process and control improvements across the lease accounting cycle.

Experience you'll need to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related field of study.

  • 4+ years of progressive accounting experience, including lease accounting.

  • Strong working knowledge of ASC 842 (lessor accounting) and general US GAAP.

  • Proven account reconciliation and month-end close experience.

  • Demonstrated experience working with cross-functional partners, including operations, revenue, and tax partners to resolve complex account variances.

  • Advanced Excel skills: experience with large data sets and ERP/GL systems.

Experience that would be great to have:

  • CPA

  • Experience with SAP, Frontier, Palantir, Microsoft Power Platform (Power Query, Power BI, AI/Copilot) and Odessa lease accounting software.

  • Familiarity with CECL and lease receivable credit loss modeling.

  • Experience in financial services, payments, or equipment leasing.

  • This role is on-site Monday through Friday in Omaha, NE. Fiserv considers in-person collaboration to be an essential part of this role as in-person office experiences help you with your overall onboarding experience and leads to stronger productivity.
