Fahrenheit Advisors is assisting Liesfeld Contractor in their search for a Senior Accountant to add to their growing team.

Liesfeld Contractor is a heavy civil and site development construction company based in Rockville, Virginia. Founded in 1972, they specialize in turnkey site preparation, mass grading, utility installation, paving, and infrastructure construction for commercial, industrial, data center, mining, and public-sector projects across the Mid-Atlantic.
POSITION SUMMARY
The Senior Accountant supports the accounting department with the company's accounting operations, including month-end close, construction job-cost accounting, Work-in-Progress reporting, reconciliations, audit support, and internal controls. This position is part of an expanding accounting department where responsibilities may evolve as the company grows.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- At least five years of progressive accounting experience
- Strong general ledger, month-end close, journal entry, and reconciliation experience
- Experience supporting audited financial statements is required
- Strong Excel and accounting-system experience
- Construction accounting, job costing, and WIP experience are helpful but not required
- Trimble Viewpoint Spectrum or Vista experience is helpful but not required
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Preparing bank and balance-sheet reconciliations
- Preparing journal entries, accruals, and monthly close schedules
- Reconciling AP, AR, payroll liabilities, retainage, fixed assets, debt, and other accounts to the general ledger
- Assisting with job-cost, WIP, and cost-to-complete reporting
- Reviewing HCSS quantities and other accounting and job-cost data for accuracy
- Assisting with vendor, contract, budget, subcontract, and change-order setup
- Preparing audit schedules and tying them to the general ledger and trial balance
- Maintaining organized, audit-ready supporting files
- Tracking outstanding audit requests, reconciliation items, and control issues through completion
- Helping prepare the monthly financial review package
- Improving the PO process and other accounting controls
- Supporting projects such as direct deposit, electronic payments, and possibly 401(k) deferrals
- Documenting procedures and providing backup across the accounting department
Skills Required
