What you'll do:

The position of Senior Accountant is responsible for assisting with the accounting and financial reporting of the Company. This position reports to a Senior Financial Reporting Manager as well as collaborating with other members of the accounting staff on a range of matters, such as monthly GL close including preparation of schedules, journal entries, reconciliations, SEC reporting, regulatory reporting, or other assigned projects. This position also ensures compliance with SOX, all policies, procedures, as well as all applicable state and federal banking regulations.

In addition to the above, the individual selected for this Sr. Accountant role will play a role in

supporting the company’s reconciliations within Oracle ARCS, which is used to monitor the completeness and accuracy of all GL reconciliations performed throughout the company. Duties may include administration, project coordination, user training and support, and participation in system enhancement initiatives.

  • Work closely with the Senior Financial Reporting Manager and Director to complete the month-end, quarter-end, and annual close processes, including the preparation and review of journal entries, supporting documentation, and related accounting analyses.
  • Support special projects, process improvement initiatives, and other departmental accounting activities as assigned.
  • Support the general ledger account reconciliation process, including responding to reconciliation-related inquiries and coordinating the resolution of issues and system outages.
  • Assist with the preparation of financial schedules and analyses supporting regulatory, SEC, and internal reporting.
  • Monitor, maintain, and enhance procedures, controls, and reporting processes.
  • Research, analyze, document, and support the accounting and reporting of complex transactions in accordance with GAAP and company policy, including treasury activities, foreign exchange transactions, and derivative instruments.
  • Guide, train, and mentor junior staff as required or assigned.
  • Contribute to interpretation and implementation of accounting pronouncement changes.
  • Interface with management, external auditors, and regulatory agencies concerning accounting and SOX requirements.

What you'll need:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or business is required.
  • 5+ years accounting experience with progressively increased responsibility, preferably within a financial services firm, is required.
  • Minimum of two (2) years public accounting experience is preferred.
  • CPA license (or CPA path) is preferred.
  • Thorough understanding of GAAP is required.
  • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Exceptional analytical and organization skills.
  • Effectively interact with all levels within the Company and subsidiaries.
  • Ability to deal with difficult problems involving multiple facets and variables in non-standardized situations.
  • Advanced computer skills including Microsoft Excel and Access.
