We're looking for an experienced Senior Accountant to join our accounting team and support the financial needs of a growing portfolio of master-planned communities. In this role, you'll prepare financial statements, support budgeting and forecasting, contribute to annual tax and audit cycles, and partner closely with Operations leaders to provide accurate, timely, and meaningful financial information.

This is an opportunity to take ownership of complex accounting responsibilities while building strong partnerships across accounting and community operations.

What You'll Do

Financial Reporting & General Accounting

  • Prepare accurate and timely financial statements for assigned communities.
  • Maintain general ledger accounts and complete balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Record monthly journal entries and support month-end and year-end close.
  • Review financial results, research variances, and provide supporting explanations and documentation.
  • Ensure accounting activity and financial reporting are completed in accordance with GAAP and applicable internal requirements.
  • Support cash and investment management, including bank account support, transfers, and related activity.
  • Approve Accounts Payable transactions as assigned.

Budget, Audit & Tax

  • Support the annual budgeting and forecasting process.
  • Coordinate accounting information and documentation for annual audits, reviews, and tax preparation.
  • Partner with internal teams and third-party professionals throughout the audit and tax cycles.
  • Research accounting questions and provide requested documentation and supporting information.
  • Support the development and maintenance of effective internal accounting controls, policies, and procedures.

Operations Partnership

  • Develop strong working relationships with Operations peers and serve as an accounting resource for assigned communities.
  • Provide clear, responsive financial support to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Interpret applicable community governing documents and financial requirements.
  • Collaborate across accounting and operations to research and resolve financial questions.
  • Participate in team meetings, share best practices, and contribute to collaborative problem-solving and knowledge sharing.

Process Improvement & Team Support

  • Identify opportunities to improve accounting workflows, processes, and procedures.
  • Use technology and available systems to improve efficiency, accuracy, and consistency.
  • Support employee education and knowledge sharing through training, workshops, or similar team initiatives as needed.
  • Contribute to mentoring, team development, and special projects as requested.

What We're Looking For

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required.
  • At least 5 years of progressive accounting experience required; candidates with closer to 8 years of experience are preferred.
  • At least 3 years of accounting experience within HOA, property management, or community management required.
  • Experience preparing financial statements and managing financial reporting responsibilities across multiple entities.
  • Strong working knowledge of general ledger accounting, balance sheets, income statements, reconciliations, journal entries, and month-end close.
  • Experience supporting budgeting, forecasting, audits, and tax-related processes.
  • Strong GAAP accounting knowledge.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, with strong Excel skills.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines with accuracy and follow-through.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to build effective working relationships.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with community association accounting, operations, amenities, or governance.
  • Experience presenting financial statements and responding to stakeholder questions.
  • CPA certification or active pursuit of CPA certification.
  • Experience with Vantaca or a similar property or community management accounting platform.

Additional Requirements

  • Ability to work Monday–Friday, 8:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m.
  • Must be able to work onsite at an Austin-area community location as required.
  • Hybrid eligibility begins following successful completion of the initial probationary period.
  • Candidates must currently reside in the Austin area or be willing to relocate at their own expense.
  • No relocation assistance is available.
