Our client, a leading company in the hospitality and entertainment industry, is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Senior Accountant to oversee the organization's accounting operations and support financial management activities. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, preparing financial reports, strengthening internal controls, supervising the accounting team, and ensuring compliance with statutory and financial reporting requirements. Experience within the hospitality, retail, entertainment, or service industry will be highly preferred.
Responsibilities:
- Maintain and oversee the General Ledger, ensuring all financial transactions are accurately recorded.
- Prepare monthly management accounts, balance sheet reconciliations, and assist in the preparation of annual financial statements.
- Support internal and external audits by ensuring financial records and supporting documentation are complete and accurate.
- Ensure compliance with accounting policies, financial procedures, and internal control frameworks.
- Review daily cash reconciliations, monitor cash collections and deposits, and oversee bank reconciliations.
- Assist in cash flow monitoring, forecasting, and the implementation of effective cash management controls.
- Monitor outstanding accounts receivable, follow up on sponsorship, event, and corporate customer receivables, and prepare debtor aging reports.
- Support debt collection initiatives to improve receivable performance and cash flow.
- Supervise supplier account reconciliations, review payment schedules, verify supplier balances, and ensure supporting documentation is complete before processing payments.
- Assist with budgeting, forecasting, financial analysis, and departmental performance reporting.
- Monitor compliance with statutory, tax, and regulatory obligations while supporting the preparation of management and Board reports.
- Lead, mentor, and supervise the Payables Accountant and Cashiers, ensuring adherence to finance procedures and internal controls.
- Identify opportunities to improve financial processes, strengthen internal controls, and enhance operational efficiency within the Finance Department.
- Provide timely financial information and recommendations to support business decision-making and organizational objectives.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- CPA (T), ACCA, CIMA, or an equivalent professional accounting qualification will be highly preferred.
- Minimum of five (5) years of relevant accounting experience, preferably in a senior accounting position.
- Previous experience supervising finance or accounting staff is preferred.
- Experience within the hospitality, retail, entertainment, or service industry will be an added advantage.
- Strong knowledge of financial reporting, general ledger management, reconciliations, budgeting, and financial controls.
- Experience supporting audits and ensuring compliance with statutory and tax requirements.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting systems.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and financial reporting skills.
- Excellent leadership, communication, organizational, and time management skills.
- High level of integrity, professionalism, and attention to detail.
- Ability to work under pressure, meet strict deadlines, and manage multiple priorities effectively.
