We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Senior Accountant for a 10-month remote assignment. The ideal candidate will have a strong accounting foundation, experience working with Canadian accounting practices and currency transactions, and the ability to operate independently in a fast-paced environment. This role will support month-end close activities, financial reporting, account reconciliations, and general accounting operations.
Key Responsibilities- Perform month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close activities.
- Prepare and review journal entries, accruals, and account reconciliations.
- Analyze financial statements and investigate variances.
- Maintain general ledger accuracy and ensure compliance with accounting standards.
- Support financial reporting and management reporting processes.
- Reconcile bank accounts and balance sheet accounts.
- Assist with audit requests and documentation preparation.
- Manage intercompany transactions and foreign currency accounting as needed.
- Process and review transactions involving Canadian currency (CAD) and related exchange rate adjustments.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure accurate financial data and reporting.
- Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes and internal controls.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- 3-5 years of accounting experience, preferably in a senior-level accounting role.
- Experience working with Canadian accounting practices, financial reporting, and Canadian currency transactions.
- Strong understanding of general ledger accounting and month-end close processes.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
- Experience with ERP/accounting systems.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently in a fully remote environment.
- Experience working in multinational or cross-border business environments.
- Knowledge of foreign currency accounting and intercompany accounting.
- Experience with IFRS and/or Canadian accounting standards.
