We are looking for a Senior Accountant to own significant portions of our accounting close — specifically revenue recognition under ASC 606, AR, AP, prepaids, accruals, and monthly GL commentary — while building expertise in commission accounting and validation. You'll operate independently across our close cycle, serve as the go-to for billing and accounting questions, and drive continuous process improvement. The ideal candidate has 5+ years of accounting experience (a mix of public and industry), a solid grip on GAAP for private companies, and specific experience with variable compensation or commissions. You're detail-oriented, a natural problem solver, and comfortable working remotely in a fast-paced SaaS environment. 

Eligible candidates have worked successfully in a small to mid-sized fast-paced, hyper-growth, SaaS start-up or scale-up. This is a full-time role eligible for candidates who can work ET hours.

To qualify for this role, you have: 

• 5+ years of experience, preferably a mix of public accounting and SaaS industry experience
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting (or similar hands-on work experience)
• A solid understanding of US GAAP and its application to private companies
• The ability to act and operate independently to accomplish objectives while taking accountability for overall work
• A strong work ethic, with the capability and desire to work in a dynamic and demanding environment to meet critical deadlines
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the desire to build and lead a cross-functional team
• Prior experience working in personnel accounting with emphasis on variable compensation and commissions
• Exceptional attention to detail and strong analytical skills—and you are a problem solver by nature
• A demonstrated ability to identify potential issues before they occur and create new processes where warranted
• Native English speaking (read / write / present) ability
• Can work in a mostly EST environment
• Experience working remotely 

Bonus points for: 

• Having an active CPA license
• Experience with a venture capital or private equity-backed company
• Automating manual processes
• Netsuite experience
• Having worked closely with HR

In this role, you will: 

• Own significant portions of the close: revenue, deferred revenue, AR, AP, prepaids, and accruals, plus the supporting reconciliations.
• Be responsible for revenue recognition per ASC 606.
• Review the Income Statement monthly and provide commentary on the variances
• Assist in GAAP audits & tax compliance
• Continually look for ways to improve processes and systems
• Serve as the main point of contact on accounting-related issues, including but not limited to billing, payables, & expenses
• Additional ad-hoc projects as needed
• Ensure payroll is processed accurately in the payroll system, as well as reconciled on a monthly basis to the GL, inclusive of variable compensation
• Validate sales commissions by tying Salesforce closed-won opportunities to QuotaPath and billing data, resolving unmatched records to zero before sign-off.
• Publish policy documentation on various processes that impact accounting

DNSFilter is a pay-for-performance organization, which means there is an opportunity to advance your compensation based on performance over time. The hiring base pay is dependent on several factors, including level, function, training, transferable skills, work experience, business needs, and geographic location. As a hybrid company, our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several U.S. and global geographic markets. We pay differently based on those defined markets.
