Legrand has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Accountant in our Syracuse, NY facility. This individual will be responsible for the assigned activities related to the monthly financial closing cycle including preparation and upload of journal entries, review and follow-up activities based on evaluation of financial results, account analysis and reconciliations, preparation of income tax related activities, managing the intercompany balancing/reporting process, and collection of intercompany accounts receivable balances. 

Responsibilities
  • Lead the month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close process including preparing, reviewing, and posting journal entries.
  • Perform complex balance sheet reconciliations and ensure accurate and timely general ledger maintenance.
  • Review and interpret financial results during Day 1, Day 2, and Day 3 financial close periods to ensure all entries have been recorded, and the financial results are complete and accurate.
  • Coordinate with internal auditors and external auditors to satisfy audit requests of information requested to complete their required audit procedures.
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to the accounting staff to assist in their development and growth.
  • Identify inefficiencies and recommend improvements to accounting processes.
  • Be able to extract, manage, and manipulate substantial amounts of data from legacy systems to facilitate execution of job responsibilities and analysis.
  • Perform other related duties and special projects as assigned.
     
Qualifications

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business administration, or equivalent experience.
     

Experience:

  • Typically requires 7-10 years of related experience.
     

Skills/Knowledge/Abilities:

  • Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to effectively handle multiple priorities.
  • Close attention to detail with the ability to audit work, identify issues, and implement process improvements.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to identify trends and establish proactive corrective actions.
  • Proficiency in ERP Systems, especially SAP and advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (VLookups, Pivot Tables).
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing, including preparation of reports, presentations, and business correspondence.
  • Solid business acumen and ability to partner across functions and interface with management.
  • High level of integrity, strong ethics, and ability to work independently as well as part of a team.

Skills Required
