Description

The Senior Accountant is responsible for supporting and executing the full accounting cycle with an emphasis on financial reporting, expenditure control, and analytical review. This role provides critical support to the project accounting function, ensuring accuracy and integrity across all financial activities within the organization. Working closely with team members across all departments and levels, the Senior Accountant helps identify, investigate, and resolve issues that impact financial outcomes. The position requires strong professional judgment, excellent time and resource management skills, and a thorough understanding of monthly accounting processes as they relate to an engineering or project-driven business. Key priorities include maintaining profitability, safeguarding the accuracy of financial data, and supporting effective cost control measures throughout the organization.

Key Responsibilities: 

  

  •  Project accounting functions, including overall project monthly maintenance.
  • Monitor project profitability, margins, and variances; partner with project managers to improve financial performance. Prepare monthly projects in jeopardy (PIJ) report for Leadership.
  • Review monthly client invoices for overall job performance.
  • Prepare, review, and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP.
  • Produce monthly MMR package for DCCM Corporate.
  • Review the general ledger and ensure accurate posting of journal entries, accruals, and adjustments.
  • Reconcile balance sheet accounts, including cash, fixed assets, WIP, and intercompany accounts.
  • Support annual audits by preparing schedules, responding to auditor inquiries, and ensuring proper documentation.
  • Partner with CFO to support and help develop annual budget.
  • Produce and analyze weekly KPI reports for leadership. 
  • Prepare supporting schedules, variance analyses, and management reports.
  • Maintain and strengthen internal controls over financial transactions and reporting.
  • Recommend and help implement process improvements to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and financial visibility.
  • Support integration of new technologies and automation tools. 
  • Other tasks as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • 4-7 years of progressive accounting experience.
  • Proficiency in Deltek Vantagepoint or a comparable ERP system.
  • Strong knowledge of monthly close processes and financial statement preparation.
  • Strong communication, problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Advanced Excel and general financial systems skills.
  • Knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting standards
  • Strong attention to detail with excellent organizational skills.

Skills Required

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
