To perform accounting and analysis functions in the Controller’s Office including, but not limited to, financial statement preparation, debt issuance and accounting, capital planning, cash forecasting, surveys, budgeting, and financial audits related to investments, fringe benefits, and other areas as assigned
- Prepare and analyze interim and year-end fringe benefit workpapers including all audit related documentation and requests for information. Function includes monthly reconciliation of related accounts.
- Prepare and analyze interim and year-end debt workpapers including all audit related documentation and requests for information. Function includes monthly reconciliation of related accounts and maintenance of debt database. Assist with oversight of bond construction funds and debt service reserve accounts to include bond draw forecasting and reinvestment of excess cash. Process monthly bond draws and related reconciliations.
- Assist with performing the compliance functions related to tax-exempt debt.
- Assist with the administration of investment activities to include preparation of new subscription agreements.
- Assist with the preparation and analysis of annual tax return workpapers and compliance reporting for all foreign investments.
- Prepare or assist in the completion of various official proposals and surveys, as assigned, including the annual federal fringe benefit rate proposal, Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC) annual financial questionnaire and other surveys as needed.
- Prepare balance sheet reconciliations and financial statement analysis as assigned.
- Cross-train on other treasury functions including investment accounting, endowment accounting, short-term cash management and other duties as needed and provide backup support during periods of scheduled and unscheduled Treasury staff leave.
Proficient knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles and the ability to apply such knowledge to accounting and financial reporting activities, including the preparation of audit footnotes.
- Advanced technology skills, including Excel, Word, automated accounting software, business intelligence cubes and related report writing tools is required.
- Strong critical thinking, problem-solving and analytical skills and the ability to work independently to assess available information, draw conclusions and understandings, and present such conclusions effectively to management.
- Strong organization skills and the ability to prioritize and stay focused on assigned priorities, work independently to meet internal and external deadlines and produce a consistently high-quality product.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to listen critically and interact with a individuals at all levels of the organization.
- Demonstrated ability to show initiative and exercise judgment.
Minimum Required Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting
Minimum Required Experience: 5 years
Work requires occasionally lifting moderate weight materials, standing, or walking continuously.
Occasional exposure to dust, noise, temperature changes, or contact with water or other liquids. Work is performed in an environmentally controlled environment.
Ability to detect and translate speech or other communication required. May occasionally require the ability to distinguish colors and perceive relative distances between objects.
