Thoughtworks is seeking a Senior Accountant Rewards Specialist. This position offers an opportunity to take on a pivotal role as the finance liaison for all aspects of rewards accounting, including the Annual Bonus Plan, equity-based compensation, and commissions. As the Senior Accountant Rewards Specialist, you will be responsible for overseeing the entire annual bonus program, managing the timeline, SOX controls, bonus calculation, respective balance sheet reconciliations, and owning key controls over financial reporting. Additionally, you will collaborate closely with the Total Rewards Team, Equity Accounting Manager, Global Tax Team, and Regional Finance Team across the world to ensure sound compliance and reporting. This role requires a high level of collaboration and partnership to maintain accurate and compliant financial operations.
A successful applicant will be a Chartered Accountant (CA) with greater than 4 years relevant accounting experience and will be expected to proactively identify risks and opportunities from an accounting point of view and work cross-functionally with members of the Total Rewards team, country and global finance teams to implement solutions.
This position will be based in our Bengaluru office and report to the Corporate Accounting
Job responsibilities
- Collaborate with the Rewards Team to design and refine the Annual Bonus Plan metrics and structure.
- Manage the entire Annual Bonus Program from a finance perspective, ensuring accurate calculation, recording, and reporting of bonus payments.
- Oversee the timeline of the Annual Bonus Program, ensuring adherence to deadlines and SOX controls.
- Conduct comprehensive bonus calculations and respective balance sheet reconciliations.
- Own and implement key controls over financial reporting related to the Annual Bonus Program.
- Act as the finance liaison for the Annual Bonus Plan, Commission Plans, and Equity Compensation. ensuring the Controllership team's involvement in the design and implementation phases.
- Collaborate with the Technical Accounting and Global SOX Team to develop accounting analysis and guidance for regional finance teams, ensuring accurate accounting and compliance with SOX standards for commissions accruals and calculations.
- Partner with FP&A to calculate and forecast Annual Bonus Plan expenses.
- Ensure proper controls around quarterly commission payments in collaboration with the Rewards Team.
Job qualifications
- CA with 4 years,Public company or SOX 404 compliance experience is advantageous.
- Willingness to work extended hours to align with Corporate Controllership team.
- Comfortable with automation and macros.
- Ability to effectively communicate complex reward concepts to all organizational levels.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Proactive approach to automation and process improvement.
- Keen attention to detail.
- Open to receiving direct feedback and sharing experiences with colleagues.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel.
- Experience with Salesforce, PeopleSoft Financials, UBS, and Workday is advantageous.
Professional Skills
- Prepare and post monthly expense journals for the Annual Bonus Plan.
- Conduct quarterly calculations and month-end reconciliations of the Annual Bonus Plan.
- Prepare and post stock-based compensation and equity journal entries.
- Ensure the completeness and accuracy of equity data in our third-party system.
- Perform monthly reconciliations and maintain the equity roll forward.
- Support accurate reporting of equity transactions in audited financial statements and disclosures.
- Partner with Global Tax on various reporting requirements.
- Collaborate with Global Rewards and Payroll teams to ensure accurate reporting and accounting of withholding taxes.
- Assist in the preparation of compensation and equity disclosures for SEC filings.
- Support internal and external.Build relationships with internal stakeholders and act as a change agent to drive process efficiencies.
