The Senior Accountant - Partner Accounting will work closely with the Partner Accounting, Finance, Payroll, Tax, and Treasury teams and will report directly to the Partner Accounting Manager. This role will maintain partner financial records; support partner compensation, distributions, and capital account administration; prepare partner-related reconciliations, analyses, and reporting; and help ensure accurate accounting across multiple jurisdictions.KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Prepare recurring and ad hoc journal entries related to partner compensation, distributions, draws, capital contributions, and partner benefit programs.
- Coordinate recurring partner accounting close activities, including monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting requirements.
- Prepare, review, and analyze partner compensation, distribution, capital account, and related financial schedules.
- Support the annual partner compensation process, including calculations, allocations, reporting, and validation of financial data.
- Reconcile partner payroll, draws, and distributions to the general ledger.
- Coordinate with Payroll and Tax teams on partner compensation reporting, tax compliance matters, tax documentation, and related support schedules.
- Maintain accurate partner records and supporting documentation within financial systems.
- Support internal and external audit requests related to partner accounting activities.
- Research and resolve partner account discrepancies and respond to inquiries from partners and Firm leadership.
- Partner with Finance, IT, and other business services teams to improve processes, enhance reporting capabilities, increase automation, and support system-related initiatives.
- Participate in special projects related to partner accounting, compensation administration, and global finance operations.
- Support global partner accounting activities, including coordination with international offices on partner account administration and reporting needs.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required.
- 5+ years of progressive accounting experience required.
- Experience in partnership accounting, professional services accounting, or law firm finance strongly preferred.
- Experience supporting partner compensation, capital accounts, or partner distributions preferred.
- Detail-oriented, highly organized, and able to manage sensitive partner financial information with discretion.
- Comfortable working independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, high-volume professional services environment.
- Analytical problem-solvers with the ability to identify trends, research variances, and resolve complex accounting issues.
- Effective communicators who can interact professionally with partners, executives, and business services personnel at all levels.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, particularly advanced Excel functions including pivot tables, lookup functions, and data analysis tools.
- Experienced working with financial and ERP systems.
