This organization is one of the most respected and long-standing nonprofit institutions in New York City, with a deeply rooted history of serving the community at scale. It operates as a cornerstone within the social services landscape, particularly within the Jewish community, and has built its reputation over decades through consistent, high-impact work. The organization provides a wide range of essential services that directly support individuals and families facing financial hardship, including housing assistance, food distribution programs, emergency relief, and ongoing case management support. Its operational footprint is both broad and highly structured, allowing it to deliver services efficiently while maintaining a strong sense of accountability and mission alignment. Known for its stability, professionalism, and reach, the organization continues to grow its programs and infrastructure in response to increasing community needs, all while maintaining a disciplined, values-driven approach to service delivery.

The finance department plays a critical role in ensuring the integrity, sustainability, and scalability of all organizational programs, and the Senior Accountant will sit directly within this core function. Reporting to the CFO, this individual will take ownership of key accounting processes while also serving as a day-to-day leader within the accounting team. The role requires someone who is comfortable operating in both a hands-on technical capacity and a supervisory capacity, as they will be responsible for guiding junior staff, ensuring accuracy across financial workflows, and maintaining strong internal controls. This is not a siloed accounting role — it is highly integrated with leadership, program teams, and external stakeholders tied to funding and compliance. The position offers significant visibility into organizational decision-making and financial strategy, and is well suited for someone looking to step into a more influential, leadership-oriented accounting role within a stable and mission-driven environment with clear long-term growth potential.
