Duties and Responsibilities:
- Own assigned areas of the monthly close across multiple related entities — journal entries, accruals, balance sheet reconciliations, and roll-forward schedules — on a firm calendar
- Maintain cash reconciliations, compliance reporting, general accounting, internal controls, and cost accounting.
- Perform job-level cost accounting: allocate overhead, equipment, and labor to job classes and sites, and explain month-over-month movement in revenue and cost
- Reconcile intercompany and related-party activity between affiliated entities
- Support external audits needs by pulling supporting documentation
- Document procedures and improve them — we expect recurring work to get faster and more reliable each cycle
- This role requires both hands-on execution (reconciliations, month-end schedules, AP resolutions when needed) and analytical judgment (cost analysis, cutoff, and accruals).
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance required (advanced degree or certificate preferred)
- 4+ years of progressive accounting experience
- Experience assisting in maintaining books for multiple legal entities, including intercompany activity
- Job costing or project/WIP accounting experience strongly preferred
- Working knowledge of construction, trades, mining, heavy equipment, or related industries preferred
- QuickBooks and AP automation/invoice processing systems a plus
- Advanced Excel: VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, pivot tables, filters, and formula-driven schedules
- Excellent communication, research, problem-solving, and time management skills
- High level of accuracy, efficiency, detail, and accountability
Skills Required
