Senior Accountant - Madison, NJ
We are seeking a Senior Accountant to join the Regional Controllers Accounting team. The ideal candidate is proactive, self motivated, and driven—someone who consistently sets a high standard for their own performance and deliverables. This individual will help enhance operational efficiency while upholding a strong control environment. In this role, the Senior Accountant will report to an Accounting Manager under the Regional Controllers team and collaborate regularly with managers across the organization.
Responsibilities:
- Ensure journal entry submissions are accurate and compliant with internal policies / GAAP
- Coordinate with various departments/stakeholders to obtain the necessary support required to book journal entries timely
- Review staff or peer’s monthly account reconciliations for completeness, accuracy, and in compliant with internal policies
- Perform monthly balance sheet reconciliations and analysis to share with stakeholders for key accounts
- Responsible for financial close activities including month-end journal entries and recording accruals as appropriate
- Ensure accounting and finance activities are compliant with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and internal policies and procedures
- Design, recommend, and implement modifications of accounting methods, procedures, forms, and records
- Lead process analysis, identify areas of improvement and/or simplification / standardization opportunities, communicate recommendations to Senior Management
- Respond to a variety of ad hoc initiatives, analysis, special projects as they arise
- Maintain strong communication with personnel across departments and outside the company, including company executives and clients, to maintain the proper processing, reporting and flow of information
- Analyze Income Statement and Balance Sheet to be able to "speak to" the numbers reported
- Prepare ad-hoc reports and analysis as needed
- Assist with special projects as needed
- Other duties as assigned
- Review submission of journal entries by staff/senior accountant(s)
Qualifications: - Must have a Bachelor’s degree or higher in Accounting
- 3+ years of accounting experience
- CPA or CPA candidate preferred
- Experience with Oracle and/or BlackLine preferred
- Strong understanding of GAAP accounting & reporting
- Excellent analytical, problem solving, and critical thinking skills
- Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Possess strong task management, attention to detail, and prioritization skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office suite with advanced Excel skills
- Ability to multi-task and work independently with limited supervision
- Ability to follow through on all assigned tasks and take on additional work as needed
