Job Description
Job Title: Senior Accountant with French Taxes
Reports to: Financial Controller
Location: Tres Cantos, Madrid, Spain (hybrid working model)
Job Type: Full Time, Permanent
We are looking for a reliable Senior Accountant to assist in preparing statements that follow all regulatory and accounting guidelines in France under the supervision of a controller. In addition, this role is responsible for ensuring compliance with french tax laws and regulations, preparing tax returns, and providing strategic tax planning to minimize tax risks.
An effective senior accountant has good knowledge of accounting principles. You must be reliable and able to carry out tasks autonomously and collaboratively.
The goal is to contribute to keep the accounting, tax related and financial processes of the company up to standard and ensure their accuracy. You should be able to help to develop possible projects or developments within the finance area. You will report to the financial controller.
Responsibilities
- Support most aspects of accounting management (billing, reporting etc.)
- Assist in the formulation of internal controls and policies to comply with legislation and established best practices
- Manage our tax-related activities, ensuring all filings are accurate and submitted on time while also identifying opportunities for increasing quality on tax compliance.
- Manage journal entries, invoices etc. and reconcile accounts for the monthly or annual closing
- Assist in the preparation of budgets or forecasts
- Participate in preparation for the annual audit
- Assist tax audits and respond to queries from regulatory bodies
- Help in development of reports for management or regulatory bodies
- Review the company’s accounting information to identify and resolve inaccuracies or imbalances
- Utilize accounting IT system to facilitate processes and maintain records
- Track and reconcile bank statements
- Process Tax payments.
- Record accounts payable
Requirements
- Proven experience as senior accountant or other similar position in France
- Solid knowledge of GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and regulations
- Knowledge of tax laws, regulations and compliance requirements in France
- Proven experience on preparation and tax filing of tax returns
- Excellent knowledge of accounting and financial processes (budgeting, financial closure, reporting etc.)
- Understanding of data analysis and forecasting
- Working knowledge of MS Office (especially excel) and accounting software (e.g. SAP)
- BSc/BA in accounting, finance or relevant field is preferred
- Well-organized with ability to prioritize
- Very good communication and interpersonal skills
- Attention to detail and problem-solving ability
- Fluent in French and English. Spanish and Italian as an added value.
