Job Summary:
Staff Accountant is responsible for supporting the accounting function through preparation of journal entries, account reconciliations, financial analyses, and month-end close activities. This position works closely with other accounting team members to ensure accurante and timely financial reporting while maintaining compliance with organizational policies and applicable regulations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Prepare monthly journal entries accurately and timely
Reconcile general ledger accounts and investigate variances as needed
Maintain supporting documentation and workpapers
Assist with month-end and year-end closing activities
Support external audit requests and regulatory reporting schedules
Support annual budgeting activities and financial analysis
Assist with special projects and process improvements
Education Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or related field.
Experience and Skills:
1-3 years of accounting experience
Knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Office applications
Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills
Ability to manage confidential information and meet deadlines
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Preferred:
Healthcare accounting or finance experience
Experience with ERP and financial reporting systems
Familiarity with month-end close and account reconciliations
Skills Required
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Bachelor's Degree in Business, Finance, or Accounting
- 1-2 years of experience in healthcare finance or accounting
- Proficiency in accounting software and hospital information systems
