The Senior Accountant will support the Senior Finance Manager / Finance Manager with ad hoc tasks relating to month-end / year-end financial accounting, management accounting and tax compliance for Stabilized and Development Funds to create capacity within the team
Key Responsibilities
Financial Reporting & Fund Analysis
- Drive Reporting Excellence: Lead the preparation of monthly management reports for diverse fund entities, ensuring high-quality outputs for budget analysis and investment summaries.
- Analytical Oversight: Perform detailed reviews of Fund-level P&L and provide high-level variance commentary that translates numbers into business insights.
- Technical Accounting: Prepare trust-level journals, including IFRS and AASB16 compliance, while maintaining meticulous balance sheet reconciliations.
Tax Compliance & Statutory Obligations
- Completion of Tax Workflows: Prepare and ensure timely submission of BAS and quarterly distributions (where relevant), ensuring all calculations are accurate and compliant.
Strategic Liaison & Special Projects
- Treasury Partnership: Prepare critical quarterly/half-yearly loan covenant calculations and collaborate closely with the Treasury and Funds teams to ensure timely accuracy.
- Process Improvement: Contribute your expertise to ad-hoc finance projects and system rollouts, helping to refine reporting processes and operational efficiency during your tenure.
- Overall finance support: Ability to adapt and support the Financial Controller and Head of Finance across our finance functions as needed (funds finance, property, corporate, accounts payable)
Requirements
Academic and/or Professional Qualifications
- Certified Expertise: You are CA or CPA qualified with a solid foundation in complex financial environments.
- Academic Grounding: A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
Experience & Skills
- Systems Proficiency: Intermediate to advanced Excel skills are essential. Prior experience with Yardi Voyager is highly regarded.
- Sector Knowledge: Experience within the Property or Funds Management industry is a significant advantage.
- Proven Pedigree: A background in Big 4 or Mid-tier Chartered firms will set you up for success in this role.
- Adaptability: The ability to pivot between tasks and manage competing priorities in a dynamic team environment.
- Communication: Strong documentation skills and the ability to articulate complex financial data to non-finance stakeholders.
- Integrity: A results-driven professional with a high work ethic and a commitment to professional excellence.
- Must demonstrate an understanding of data privacy and security best practices when interacting with external AI platforms
- Experience integrating AI tools into daily workflows to improve output quality and operational speed
- Skill in auditing AI-generated data to ensure high standards of accuracy and professional integrity
Optional Competencies
- Demonstrates proficiency in leveraging Generative AI tools (e.g., ChatGPT, Claude, or specialized financial AI) to streamline routine workflows, enhance data synthesis, and accelerate the drafting of reports or documentation
- Proactive in utilizing AI-assisted tools to identify trends within large datasets, automate repetitive analytical tasks, and augment decision-making processes through advanced prompt engineering and iterative testing.
