We are seeking a Senior Account Manager who will help develop and work on integrated programs for our financial services clients. These programs touch earned media, influencer relations, digital content and social media, among other disciplines. We are looking for a senior manager who is able to run the day-to-day on key accounts, effectively making the connection points among the client, team and senior leaders at Edelman. You should also be someone who enjoys being creative, pushing the boundaries on ideation and enjoys coming up with a constant flow of engaging concepts for our clients – all the while encouraging your junior team members to do the same.
 
At Edelman, you’ll partner with some of the brightest and seasoned professionals in the industry, leveraging expertise in corporate reputation, social purpose, brand marketing, employee experience, digital influencers and creative strategy.
 
THE ROLE
A Senior Account Manager, as a leader-in-the-making, is responsible for helping to set strategy, driving work forward with clients and supervising account work performed by junior staff. You will demonstrate the ability to manage up, as well as manage across with peers and mentor account team members. You will learn Edelman’s various communications marketing processes and approaches. Expected competencies include:

KEY ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Plays key role in developing key messages in keeping with clients’ objectives
  • Application of key client information, including general business strategy, industry trends and issues, products/services, key opinion leaders, customers and competitors
  • Plays key role in developing key messages in keeping with clients’ objectives
  • Demonstrates the ability to write, edit and proofread to create high quality internal and external, channel-appropriate communications content
  • Serves as daily client contact and as client lead on specific workstreams 
  • Successfully pitch client stories and manage media relationships, supporting a team in researching media and target audiences, analyzing online conversations, and driving ongoing proactive news bureau activities
  • Develop messaging, and write press materials, social media content, direct communications materials and other documents, including briefing books and FAQs
  • Build relationships with third-party influencers and internal business partners to meet client needs
  • Participates in integrated teams to provide clients and prospects with the most compelling team and proposal
  • Oversees & supervises junior staff’s work products to ensure quality and consistency, as well as their growth and development in the organization.

KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS

  • 6+ years of PR & Communications experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, Public Relations, or related field.
  • Expertise on financial services sector from a comms perspective is highly desirable for the role.
  • Previous client facing experience, including providing tactical counsel.
  • Strong media relations with key publications focused on the BFSI segment.
  • Strong project management skills.
  • Experience guiding junior employees.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, including skills in negotiation and obtaining cooperation.
  • Strong content development skills, and experience drafting press releases, media alerts, bylined articles, features etc.
