The Role
Edelman is a voice synonymous with trust, reimagining a future where the currency of communication is action. Our culture thrives on three promises: boldness is possibility, empathy is progress, and curiosity is momentum.

We are in relentless pursuit of an equitable and inspiring workplace that is respectful of all, reflects and represents the world in which we live, and fosters trust, collaboration and belonging.

Edelman’s Energy Transition team partners with leading companies and organizations across the energy industry to support their business, marketing, communications and advocacy priorities. We build integrated campaigns that drive business value, build trust and enhance reputation, and engage customers, communities and key stakeholders.

We’re hiring a Senior Account Executive in Houston to support one of the world’s largest and most respected energy companies, as well as other energy clients and new business activities. You’ll help execute high-stakes executive visibility, stakeholder engagement and thought leadership campaigns that span business, public policy and social impact. This position is ideal if you want to participate in a fast-paced, intellectually challenging environment and acquire the skills necessary to become a successful communications practitioner.

You’ll gain exposure to executive communications, public affairs strategy and corporate reputation work across one of Edelman’s most high-profile energy accounts. This is a hands-on, detail-heavy role ideal for someone looking to grow into a strategic advisor.

Responsibilities:

  • Attend internal and client meetings; capture notes, track action items and help maintain program momentum.
  • Support executive social media content and strategy.
  • Support stakeholder engagement strategy through research, mapping and ongoing tracking.
  • Help build editorial calendars, campaign planning slides and briefing memos for high-profile events, business milestones and executive thought leadership.
  • Monitor media coverage, flag reputational risks and surface opportunities to elevate key messages.
  • Build and maintain media lists; draft pitches and assist with outreach to reporters and editors across trade and top-tier outlets.
  • Assist with research, insights, and writing across internal briefs and occasional new business efforts.

Basic Qualifications:

  • At least 2 years of relevant experience in marketing communications, public relations or executive visibility work. Prior energy experience is a plus.
  • A bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Proactive communicator comfortable following up, flagging blockers, and keeping projects on track without waiting for direction.
  • Curiosity and critical thinking around energy, sustainability and social impact topics.
  • Strong attention to detail and comfort navigating complex, regulated or politically sensitive issues.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills—must keep multiple workstreams moving simultaneously.
  • Ability to break down complex information into simple, audience-specific messaging.
  • Flexibility to switch between writing, research, planning and admin support as needed.
  • Comfortable working with senior-level clients and navigating fast-paced work environments.
  • Self-starter mindset willing to jump in, ask questions and learn quickly.
