Responsibilities:
- Demonstrate a solid understanding of the public relations industry and its basic principles
- Understand key client information, including business strategy, industry issues, products and services, key customers and competitors
- Provide client service administration, including preparing client status and activity reports, attending meetings and conference calls, compiling media and competitor coverage, coordinating press tour pitching, scheduling and logistics
- Research, outline, write, edit, and proofread materials, including media lists, media strategies, press materials, scripts, itches, fact sheets, and more
- Assist with research, including analysis of media coverage and online conversations
- Have your finger on the pulse with social trends and cultural happenings and identify opportunities for clients to take part
- Strong media relations and ability to build a network of media and industry influencer contacts
- Ability to manage the process for paid PR tactics (I.e. SMTs)
- Proactively develop and offer fresh story angles to internal account teams and clients
- Manage projects using organizational skills, working with colleagues, vendors, and support agencies, and keeping project leaders apprised of status
- Help supervise junior team members and communicate progress with senior team leadership
- Participate in the new business process, including research, audits, preparation of proposals, and support for new business pitches
Basic Qualifications:
- At least 2 years of relevant experience in public relations and/or related fields including research, advertising, management consulting, media, and publishing.
- A bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience
Preferred Qualifications:
- You will have an intricate level of understanding of the account(s), the client’s businesses, products, markets, personnel, outside influencers, opposition, etc.
- You will have a solid grasp of all basic public relations tools in order to help lead strategies and how the tools are used to achieve client goals.
- You also will have solid research, writing, and editing skills and the ability to develop media and influencer contacts/relationships.
- Possess strong client communication skills, as regular client communication will be expected.
- You are expected to have a fundamental understanding of media outreach assignments and apply experience and initiative in developing appropriate traditional and online media strategies.
- You must be a proactive self-starter with excellent organizational and project management skills, and the ability to adapt to change and meet deadlines.
- You have an affinity for storytelling and are able to generate creative ideas, take risks, and think big.
