Be more than an educator.
Be the reason a young person believes in a brighter future.
For young people with SEN and SEMH needs, attending school can feel impossible. Too many people, too many challenges and too little support can leave them unwilling or unable to attend.
At Fresh Start in Education, we’re looking for experienced, proactive, person-centred people to plan and deliver fun, personalised learning sessions on a 1:1 basis with young people with SEN or SEMH needs in the Surrey, Berkshire and Hampshire areas. Whether it’s going to the shops to explore Maths, unlocking their imagination through fiction and art, or using a trip out to uncover the wonders of Science, you’ll spark curiosity, confidence and a sense of hope, enabling students to rediscover the joy of learning in a way that works for them. One learner, one relationship, one small step at a time.
With allowances for resources and travel and full support from our dedicated team, this flexible role gives you the freedom to deliver learning in the ways that you feel best meet the student’s needs and interests. If you have the experience, resilience and commitment to transform lives, we would love to hear from you.
What you'll be doing:
- Working 1:1 with young people in their homes or community settings in Surrey, Berkshire or Hampshire
- Planning and delivering personalised, creative, learning sessions that reflect each learner’s needs, interests and abilities, particularly in Maths and English
- Running sessions during the school day (term time only) that typically last 3 to 5 hours
- Engaging with students who may have ASD, ADHD, SEMH needs, GDD or complex needs and helping them achieve outcomes at their pace
- Working flexibly as part of a compassionate, expert-led team that values you and your skills
Who we're looking for:
We welcome applications from people who have:
- Experience (at least 1 year) as Teachers, Learning Support Assistants, SEN Mentors and SEN specialists
- A background in Primary, Secondary, Functional Skills or Post 16 teaching, or specialist SEND environments
- Emotional regulation and de-escalation skills
- A minimum of 2 consistent weekdays available
- An up-to-date knowledge of safeguarding and child protection
What you can expect from Fresh Start in Education:
- £25–£36 per hour, depending on experience
- £15 per session resources allowance and travel subsidy
- Free access to counselling and wellbeing services and pension options
- Dedicated line manager, support and inclusion in a supportive, expert team
- Bank staff role (PAYE), offering both short-term and long-term placements
