Position Summary
SEMCO Energy is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Manager of Regional Operations to lead our Macomb, MI Operations team! Reporting to the Sr. Director of Operations, this role requires a dynamic leader with extensive experience in gas industry field operations and excellent leadership skills. The ideal candidate will excel in planning and implementing regional operating policies, managing financial resources, and fostering a positive work environment. With excellent communication and leadership skills, the Manager of Regional Operations will play a crucial role in achieving our corporate and regional goals while ensuring safety and promoting SEMCO within the community.
Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Plan and implement regional operating policies and programs in support of corporate and regional goals and benchmarked standards.
  • Ensure the communication/dissemination of the business strategy through the operating region.
  • Negotiate, interpret and manage Collective Bargaining Agreements. Promote a strong working relationship among all employees, both union and non-union.
  • Acts as the Subject Matter Expert in the operational function. Support process improvement through committee collaboration.
  • Train, monitor, motivate, coach, develop, and evaluate unit employees.
  • Promote and represent SEMCO professionally within the community.
  • Achieve financial objectives by sound management of financial resources through budget preparation, monitoring of fees and costs, and analysis and/or justification for the use of financial resources.
  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications and establishing personal networks.
  • Promote a safe environment for team, co-workers, customers and the public through strict adherence to safety standards and timely reporting of potential hazards.
  • Make regular reports to the Director of Operations.


Qualifications, Skills and Abilities

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, business, or related field or equivalent
  • 5+ years of gas industry field operations experience required.
  • Supervisory or management experience preferred
  • Project management experience or training preferred
  • Proven organizational and analytical skills with the ability to analyze processes, make recommendations, monitor the financial effectiveness of the region and provide future direction and guidance.
  • Excellent written and oral communications skills, in order to effectively manage a variety of interpersonal relationships and situations.
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills. Must be able to provide effective change-management leadership that will effectuate change to support the region’s business strategy.
  • Working knowledge of various personal computer business software applications (i.e. Microsoft Office Suite).
  • Ability to maintain and promote a positive work atmosphere through effective interactions and communications with team, coworkers, customers and management.

The estimated annual salary for this role is between $109,500 to $150,375, based on qualifications, experience, and education. SEMCO Energy is proud to also provide a comprehensive benefits package including health insurance, retirement plans, savings plans, and paid time off.
