Position Summary
SEMCO Energy is seeking Customer Service Representatives for our call center team! Under direct supervision, the CSR is responsible for providing effective customer service for all internal and external customers using resources and knowledge of SEMCO products and programs.

This is a part-time position with hours ranging from 20 to 40 per week, with increased hours during our peak seasons.

Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Timely response to customer calls.
  • Provide timely and accurate information to customers.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve customer issues, escalating complex cases as required.
  • Maintain detailed and accurate records of customer interactions and transactions.
  • Adhere to company policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Conduct necessary research to answer customer questions.
  • Educate customers about special programs. Explain program, coverage, and related costs.
  • Responsible for meeting defined performance and quality monitoring metrics.
  • Participate in Company training programs as required.


Qualifications, Skills and Abilities

  • High School Diploma/GED required.
  • 1+ years of customer service-related work experience.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, in addition to active listening skills.
  • Strong problem-solving capabilities and attention to detail.
  • A positive attitude and a commitment to providing outstanding customer service.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to confidentially process and maintain data.
  • Working knowledge of various personal computer business software applications presently used by the Company; ability to learn new systems or software packages as necessary.
  • Must maintain a positive work atmosphere through effective interactions and communications with co-workers, customers, and management.

Remote Work Requirements

  • Work location secure and appropriate to facilitate uninterrupted and productive conversation with customers during business hours.
  • Reliable internet.
  • Reliable transportation for in-office monthly meetings and periodic training sessions.
  • Work from office is also available, if preferred.
