Trek Travel’s Self-Guided trips are operated directly with Trek Travel Hosts and via Partner companies with Partner Hosts, collectively “Hosts.” The Self-Guided Program Coordinator is responsible for analyzing, developing, and managing Trek Travel’s Self-Guided portfolio, establishing, and communicating standards and processes both internally and externally, and ensuring our Self-Guided trips are experiences of a lifetime for our guests as measured by guest evaluations and internal metrics.

POSITION RESPONSIBILTIES INCLUDE, BUT NOT LIMITED TO: 

  • Oversee the Self-Guided program including quality, profitability, and growth
  • Create, communicate, and maintain Trip Design Standards for self-guided trips 
  • Collaborate with Guest Experience, Guide and Logistics Departments to establish trip related standards and procedures for Hosts 
  • Collaborate with Logistics to identify Unit Equipment needs specific to Self-Guided trips 
  • Assist Guide and Logistics Departments with hiring and training Hosts
  • Coordinate with TDCs and Partners to ensure program consistency. 
  • Review and maintain Self-Guided information on website, including landing page, packing list, inclusions, FAQ, and Activity Level info 
  • Work with Guest Experience to ensure accuracy of guest emails and trip report data 
  • Coordinate with Marketing Team to promote the Self-Guided program 
  • Train and educate Sales teams on Self-Guided trip standards
  • Prepare and post various trip reports and trip documents for Partners and Hosts 
  • Review all Guest and Host feedback and collaborate on and implement changes for future trips as needed 
  • Work toward achieving a Trip Design Department goal of 4.8 guest evaluation score and Guest Experience Department goal of 94 NPS score across all Self-Guided trips 
  • Collaborate with the Director of Product on growth (3-to-5-year plan), participate in training for Program Coordinators, and send monthly update to company regarding Self-Guided metrics
  • Present at Manager and/or company-wide meetings from time to time 
  • Act as Trip Design Coordinator for various self-guided trips around the globe 
  • Cross departmental work and additional projects as required 

YOU HAVE:

  • ​​​​​​​Strong leadership skills and attention to detail. 
  • A solution-oriented attitude. 
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision. 
  • Preferably has at least 3 years of guiding experience. 
  • Familiar with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook and are comfortable working with trip budgets. 
  • Deadline-oriented. The successful candidates will have demonstrated the highest level of accountability in their previous trip-guiding paperwork and trip end reports.
  • Preferably research, or other Trip Design experience. 
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written. 
  • Strong organization skills and computer skills. 
  • Must be in possession of a computer. 
  • Must have access to hide speed internet, if based at home/remote.

This is a full-time hourly (approximately 30 hours per week), exact hours to be determined based on the scope of work and experience. This position reports to the Director of Product is eligible for Trek Travel’s competitive benefits package. Interest in the active travel industry is beneficial, but not necessary. 

While this job is field based, the Coordinator will be expected to establish with the Trek Travel head office structured “office hours” when they will be expected to be available to work (this includes communication, conference calls, emails, etc. with the Trek Travel head office in Madison). Regardless of what time zone the Self-Guided Program Coordinator lives in, they must arrange their schedules so that it coordinates with the Madison head office.
