We are seeking a highly motivated Seed Physiologist to join our R&D team, with a focus on advancing seed quality, viability, and longevity. The successful candidate will design and conduct experiments to evaluate seed germination, investigate pre-sowing treatments, and develop storage protocols to maintain seed viability over extended periods. This role will contribute directly to the optimization of seed performance and shelf life in both research and commercial settings. Responsibilities
• Develop and optimize seed priming and pellet treatment protocols to improve seed vigor, uniformity, and emergence.
• Establish and evaluate cold storage parameters (e.g., temperature, humidity, packaging) to maintain seed quality for long-term preservation.
• Apply seed physiological principles to characterize seed aging, dormancy, and desiccation tolerance.
• Collaborate with breeding, production, and quality assurance teams to support seed enhancement, storage projects and general breeding activities on site.
• Use statistical tools and software (e.g., R, SAS) to analyze experimental data and prepare detailed reports.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry trends, scientific literature, and emerging technologies in seed biology and storage.
• Ensure compliance with internal protocols, safety procedures, and industry standards.
• Present findings in internal meetings and contribute to scientific publications or patent applications as applicable.
• Ph.D. in Seed Biology, Plant Physiology, Agronomy, or a closely related field (preferred), OR, Master’s degree with 3+ years of relevant professional experience required.
• Experience working in a R&D or commercial seed production environment.
• Knowledge of seed storage physiology and cold storage systems.
• Experience operating laboratory and greenhouse equipment related to seed biology.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively in multidisciplinary teams.
• Familiarity with seed industry standards (e.g., ASTA, AOSA).
• Proficiency with data analysis and statistical software (R, SAS, etc.).
• Strong communication and technical writing skills in English and Spanish required.
