DEPARTMENT SUMMARY: The Facilities Department is a team of over 80 employees responsible for the safety, security, maintenance, and cleanliness of the Centers’ ten locations throughout the Los Angeles area.  These facilities cover a wide variety of uses including medical facilities, residential facilities, community rooms, theatres, offices, industrial kitchens, and a coffee shop. The Facilities Department is a great team with hardworking people who enjoy maintaining a wonderful atmosphere for clients and staff who are looking for a community to belong to.

JOB SUMMARY: Reporting directly to the Security & Safety Manager and generally to the Associate Director of Facilities and as part of the Facilities Management Team, the Security Supervisor is responsible for the direct supervision of all Security staff and 24-hour Security operations, at all agency locations, while maintaining a positive and flexible work environment.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

50%    Security Operations

  • Prioritize, respond to, and coordinate all staff, departmental, and agency Security needs.
  • Monitor and procure any necessary security equipment and supplies.
  • Maintain accurate recordkeeping, using all Security systems reporting and documentation resources, and assist in the development of Security policies, procedures, and forms as necessary.
  • Coordinate and monitor contractor site access and maintain compliance with all Building & Safety regulations.
  • Be available for on call and/or respond to Center locations 24 hours a day as needed per request of Security Manager.
  • Develop and foster positive, productive relationships with the LAPD and BID security agencies.
  • Manage reporting, investigation, and follow-up for all accidents and incidents for OSHA, Workers Compensation, and Center Security reporting systems.

5%    Other Duties

  • Participate in staff meetings, planning, and other types of meetings and events as required and/or needed.
  • Support agency goals and initiatives as required.
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Recruit, select, develop, mentor, and coach staff as well as inspire and motivate individual and team performance.
  • Monitor daily Security operations for large (40 and growing) non-armed, in-house, unionized Security Guard staff.
  • Maintain, for all Security staff, accurate personnel records, documenting all disciplinary actions per Center, HR, and Union guidelines, and maintain the day-to-day union relations in a positive and productive manner.


REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Knowledge of or experience working with the LGBTQ community and familiarity with issues of particular relevance to LGBTQ people
  • A passion for the Center’s work and its mission to make the world a better place for LGBTQ people
  • Minimum 3 years’ direct security supervisory experience
  • Minimum 5 years’ security experience 
  • Proficiency with MS Office and the ability to learn new internal systems quickly and pass that knowledge on to Security Supervisor(s) and staff
  • Strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills with a high level of attention to detail
  • Access to reliable transportation, a valid CA Driver License, and the ability to be insured
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with people of diverse races, ethnicities, nationalities, sexual orientations, gender identities, gender expression, socio-economic backgrounds, religions, ages, English-speaking abilities, immigration status, and physical abilities in a multicultural environment

  • Bilingual skills (English/Spanish fluency)

Skills Required
